Tuesday- Taste the Sweetness of Sugar Cubes

Getting a late start to the day. Adam and I slept in until 8am. He went upstairs to play video games with Uncle Jim so I figured I had better hurry and blog, LOL

Yesterday I received a swap package in the mail but I won't share about it until the weekend except for this part. Adam was laying on my bed and talking about Butterflies when the mail came. I opened the package and the first thing I pulled out was a BUTTERFLY.No kidding. Adam snagged it right away. I quickly got the camera and snapped this picture without him noticing...
But then he saw the camera s he had to make the butterfly wings flap for the next photo, hence the blurriness. I am sure you can see my "bubba" needs a haircut. LOL
OK Onto CONTEST STUFF

TUESDAY is TRY A NEW STITCH DAY-

I was going to do a crochet stitch today but I forgot to look up one yesterday and all the ones I checked out today seemed too complicated, so knitting it is again this week.

This weeks NEW STITCH is called SUGAR CUBES

Sugar Cubes
(multiple of 8 sts)
Note: In the example shown, there are four repeats of the stitch, so to make a swatch that looks like the one shown, you need to cast on 32 stitches (4 x the multiple of 8 stitches needed for a single repeat of the pattern.)

Row 1 (RS) Knit
Row 2: *p6, k2; rep from *
Row 3: K the knit sts and p the purl sts
Row 4: Purl
Row 5: Knit
Row 6: p2, *k2, p6; rep from *, end k2, p4
Row 7: K the knit sts and p the purl sts
Row 8: Purl

Rep rows 1-8.

I think this looks fairly simple... I haven't tried it yet myself but hopefully can work on it while I go to the DR's today.

For your entry in this weeks contest I am looking for a comment from you. Tell me what you think of this stitch pattern? Have you tried it before? How do you think it could be used? ETC... or you can just leave any old comment, you know I am not picky, LOL. Any comment gets you an entry so make sure you leave one, OK?

Speaking of contests I am leaving a heads up to remind you that Shelly will be having a "special" contest on her blog starting sometime around August 8th so make sure you visit her blog so you don't miss it.

And of course a reminder to visit the Other Contests listed on my side bar, there are some fun contests and great prizes too. One of them is to name a Chocolate dessert... have you checked that out yet?

Ok I better publish this before you all think I forgot. Dr's today, therapy again tomorrow, education class on Thursday, yep my calendar is FULL FULL

Oh and thanks to all of you for joining the dish rag tag... I am losing my determination to stay away and may join in today after all.

{{{SIGH}}}

Have a great day... it is after all the Day The Lord has Made, let's rejoice and be glad in it.
AK

Psa 118:24 This [is] the day [which] the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

I think Sugar Cubes is a very appropriate pattern stitch for ... THE KITCHEN! :-) Actually, I think I'll try the pattern for my kitchen gift baskets I'm making for Christmas gifts. Thanks for the new pattern, Kath!

Oh, I could see Sugar Cubes on the bottom section of an empire wasted cardigan. I'll have to save this one for when I get the nerve to try to design my own knitted garment. :D

Too cute with the butterfly! How perfect was that timing?!?

At first I thought it looked like the checkerboard pattern, but I see it's a little different. Have to try this one.

Awww--how cute is this with the butterfly? Adam knows just how to play up to the camera!!

And, I love the sugarcube pattern. I'm going to do this for some squares for The Ghana Project and also the Gathering Room. Thanks for the new suggestions!!

As for me leading a Small Group?!--who would have ever thought of this?? Certainly, not me--but, God had His eyes on me all along.
And for this, I am so thankful. He never let me go.

I think "share's" comment is perfect for this stitch! It's very simple, or should I say, there are plenty of difficult stitches. Thanks for reminding me, I really need to post my dishcloth patterns (just need to look over the pattern & type it)
Thanks for giving me a great excuse to post a comment!!
Blessings, BellaMama

I have never done the sugar cubes stitch. Looks very clean and nice though. Life has been busy(oddly enough) with appointments, unemployment appointments, hanging out with a lot of people we weren't able to because of crazy work schedules, interviews, studying and phone calls... eeek!!! Who knew unemployment got so busy!!! ha ha
