MY Blog contest

Welcome to my first Blog contest. It will run from August 1st through August 31st.

The above picture is the prize. It includes a skein of blue sock yarn, a skein of ticker tape, a skein of lion suede, a skein of modea tutu, and ball of ribbon yarn. Also included is a new I crochet hook and a set of bamboo size 7 knitting needles.

All you need to do to play is check my blog for a daily post, which will include a question... poll... riddle... etc. Something that will require a comment from you. When you comment (on the same day the post was submitted) you will earn an enrty for the prize.

If you direct another to the blog to play and they mention your referral in their comment you will also get an additional entry for the referral the first time they post.

At the end of the month I will draw a name of the winner and announce it here on my blog.

Easy, free and hopefully fun.

Don't forget to come back on August 1st.

The Party's Over

My son Jim leaves tomorrow for Chicago Institute of Art. Yesterday we had a send off/graduation type party for him. We had a great turn out. My sister in law and brother in law let us use their beautiful home and yard and pool. The weather was wonderful. Rain was forcasted for the entire weekend and we had not a drop. It was perfect. Adam got to go swimming and LOVED it. He you can see him with a cousin kicking his feet, DR's say this will help him walk better faster.

The other two pictures are of my son Jim, the artist. One is modeling the t-shirt for the college and the other taken at the party. We had a nice turn out of people, which was awesome. Jim sometimes thinks there are few if any that would miss him, but yesterday I hope showed him that's not true.

I took lot's of pictures but they are mostly from a distance. I made a photo bucket collection of them, here is the link in case you want to view them.

Ok the link is missing, I can't figure it out yet. I will have a slide show to post soon.

I've Been Tagged

Well I guess I have been tagged. I think I was once before but I forgot to follow the instructions. So here it goes. I guess I am supposed to list 6 things about myself and then tag 6 other people to do the same. So here I go...

1- Whenever I eat M&M's I always seperate the colors, and then pair them up, and if I have an odd number I will bite that one in half so it makes 2.

2- I stopped cracking my knuckles 20 years ago, but even today if someone cracks theirs in my presence I have to fight the urge to crack mine too.

3- I like pickles and tomatoes but if they are on a hamburger I must remove them and eat them first, the onions and lettuce can stay though.

4- I sometimes catch myself singing NOGGIN songs even when my grandson is not here with me.

5- I can talk on the phone for hours to one person without blinking, and usually do, several times a week. (right Shelly?)

6- I have sold Avon products since I was 18, and I still to this day have never used any soaps, cleansers, creams or make up on my face, nor have I ever had a pimple.

Now the hard part, finding some blogs to tag... let's see...
These are some blogs I check out often to see what is new, I haven't ever met or really know these talented people yet, but hopefully this will be a start.

Nikki- http://drgnflz.blogspot.com/

Charmaine- http://wipsandufos.blogspot.com/

Annette- http://www.annette2u.blogspot.com/

Maria Elena- http://bashfulsheep.blogspot.com/

Diane- http://dianesknittingcraftsstuff.blogspot.com/

Carole- http://craftycarole.blogspot.com/

Okay, I think all I need to do now is visit these blogs and tell them I tagged them. I am not really good at this so hopefully I did it right.

Adam's BIg Day

Saturday July 21st we took Adam to a birthday party for his cousin. this was his forst real outing since he had the body cast off. Because his cousin lives out in the country and near a resorvoir (Adam calls it Crocodile Lake) we had to stop there first. He didn't want to leave, he was crying as we put him back in the car.
We arrived to hte party and there was a little blow up pool set up. he couldn't wait to get in and play. He is a fish like his Nana (me) He was standing up pretty good and even took several un-assisted steps throughout the day. It was great to see him walking again
Next came the presents and when this gift was opened Adam just couldn;t wait to play in the balls. The birthday girl, Adam and another cousin played in that house for at least an hour. They were so cute.

Sunday we took Adam to church and then we were to hea dup to the country again for another party, but my little Bubba fell asleep after church, the little guy was so tired he was on top of the pillow when he zonked. He didn't walk at all Sunday, I figure his legs were worn out from Saturday

He went home Monday (yesterday) and by then he was walking again. I can't wait to see what another week of healing brings, we have a full schedule next weekend too, you can bet I'll have my camera ready to go.

The Poncho and the 2nd Bib

Well here is the finished poncho, I didn't have a model so I draped it over a tote bag. It's beautiful but I think it's heavy. It must be the acrylic yarn... not sure.

Also this is the 2nd bib, I realized why the first seemed too big I used the wrong size crochet hook, oops. The sad part is I missed the Baptism party. Adam fell asleep and we never made it. so I still have the gifts here to give. I feel so bad. I think the excitement from Saturday wore my little guy out.

Whats on my needles...

Tomorrow (Sunday) we are going to a Baptism party and I made this bib and am making a second for the gift. This was my first time trying a front post and back post crochet stitch. I have to say, I love how this turned out.

My mom got me more Trellis and Lion Suede yarn at the local dollar store... There are 12 different colors and she got me 4 of each color. They are wonderful. I am hoping to make some Christmas gifts out of this. I am making a scarf for the store managers daughter as he offered to order me yarn anytime I want. What a deal, huh?

This is the scarf so far, not even close to being finished yet. I am using the fuscia Lion suede and a wine colored ribbon yarn at the same time. A straight knit pattern except I am yo every few rows and then dropping the yo on the next row. It looks great and is very soft.

Well I better get to my other bib, tomorrow will be here before I know it.

Juat another crazy week for me

Well my Grandson Adam is free from the body cast. See him showing off his legs and feet finally able to wiggle again. He still can't walk yet, but he can scoot around on his bottom pretty good. This picture is with his daddy, my son Joe. Adam used to call him Joe all the time but this weekend finally starting calling him daddy. I love it, it sounds so cute.

My husband has been fishing down at the Hudson River every chance he can get. I have been telling people I feel like a "River Widow". This fish was a 28" Drum fish. He released it back in the water but he caught two of these within 20 minutes with just a worm. He was thrilled. i was so glad he didn't keep them and try to get me to cook them. YUCK

My mom stopped at the dollar store today and came back with these new balls of yarn. I have never used the Lion Suede or the Trellis yarn before and I can't wait. Well actually the Trellis yarn I didn't wait, I started the scarf patter on the ball band and am LOVING it. Very delicate and colorful. My mom wants me to make a scarf from the Suede too, so that will be next. She only got the 4 balls cause she wasn't sure if I'd like them. I told her ANY yarn that is $1.00 or less is a yarn I will LOVE. I think she will get me more. Woo Hoo

Now the crazy stuff... someone came into our yard in the middle of the night while we were all sleeping and set a fire to a tent and mattress we had set up in the backyard. It obviously burned fast and hard. The tent was only inches away from our garage and my sisters deck (she lives nextdoor) It could have burned up a lot of things. We don't know who did it or why, but I tell you I am a little nervous that they might try to burn other things too.

All I can do to keep sane is to knit and crochet. I have mande 18 squares for Victory Junctions Camp (a NSACAR thing) I made 4 dishcloths for some friends on a FlyLady group I talk to every day, and I started that scarf. I also want to start the monthly dishcloth KAL too. Oh so many projects and so little time.

Hello Everyone

OK I failed at Flickr, Don't have a clue hpw to make a web page, so I ended up making a second Blogger page to use to post my original designs. So far that's only 6. But I hope to make more in the future.

Just a Quick Update

Trying to figure out how to add a link to my Flickr account so the original patterns I have created can be viewed by others. Not sure what I am doing. I think I will leave it alone for a few minutes or days LOL and then try again. Oh and Adam is finally cast free. I haven't taken any new photos yet but hopefully will before the weekend is over. I just finished creating a Mermaid pattern for someone, so that's why I haven't been blogging. I'll have more to share on Sunday.

It's going to be a great day, it's only hours away from Adam being set free from the body cast, Woo Hoo.

I finally finished the Wave cloths for my mom, 31 dushcloths of the same pattern, I know this pattern by heart now. Funny thing I was watching Blues Clues with Adam this weekend and one of them showed them crossing water on a boat and the waves looked exactly like the pattern on the dishcloths. I knew then I was dishcloth insane, LOL

Been working on squares for the Victory Junction Gang, I have 6 completed so far. It's going slow but I expect it to pick up soon.

I want to get working on a tank top (my first) for my niece hannah's birthday in August, but I need to get the right yarn first. Hoping I can get that this week.

Oh I had a few requests for the patterns for the Shelly's Heart and Purple hearts patterns I created. I really am itching to make some more. So many ideas so little time to do them all. Hopefully soon.

Well I guess that's all the news so far... I'll blog more later as I get other projects completed.

ADAM is almost free

It's time to celebrate. Adam will be released from the prison of the body cast on Monday. Yes that is just 6 days away. I can't believe how fast this healing time went.

I am so proud of my little Bubba for never losing his JOY through this. As you can see in these pictures even bed bound he managed to have fun, laugh and be happy. We can learn alot from this remarkable little boy.

Now once he is free I hope we can get him interested in potty training.
It never ends, does it? LOL

FISHING for projects to knit

Well I have yet another project in the works. I came across this fish design on another blog, and recently joined the Yahoo group because I just had to figure these out. I LOVE them. Fast to knit, easy to do, fun to watch develop. Can't wait until I have enough to sew together and make a blanket.

My camera is old and outdated so the pictures aren;t the best, but as I knit up more I will try to photograph them better. I love how they puff up in the moddle and think it will really make an interesting blanket when sewn together.

In between the fish I have made several squares for the Victory Junctions Camp (A NASCAR charity) as well as a few more Wave squares for my mom. I know I said I was finished but she thinks she needs 6 more. Ok Mom, I have 2 done and 4 more to go. LOL.

Need Something to Read??? Say GimpyKatK sent you.
