The Scrap Rug is finsihed Too

This was also a super duper easy project. I used up all my small balls of acrylic yarn, it's all single crochet with two strands of yarn, one MC and one CC, MC throughout, contrast color changing every few rows. It's nice and sturdy and I think perfect for a rud in front of the kitchen sink.

I found the pattern here... http://www.freepatterns.com/list.html?cat_id=322

It is called Scrap Yarn Rug. And not to brag but the picture looks just like mine, hahahahahaha

Now what is next... I think some charity squares. Adam will be here tomorrow and is staying until Tuesday so some quick easy squares I think is the best project.

Tried a new Dishcloth Pattern...

AND I LOVE IT!!!!!!

Not sure of the name but I saw the pattern posted on someone's blog and she caled it a slip stitch dishcloth.

It is basically an 8 row repeat pattern and so super easy. You work with 2 complimating colors throughout. The picture doesn't do it justice. It feels awesome to touch, and is stunning. Works up fast, needs little to NO concentration. Try one, you'll love it. I promise

Cast on 43

1-Knit across (color A)

2- Purl across (color A)

3- K1, S1, across ending with K1 (color B)

4- same as 3 (color B)

5- Knit across (color B)

6- Purl across (color B)

7- K2, (S1, K1) across ending with K2 (color A)

8- P1, (K1, S1) across K1 and P1 last 2 stitches (color A)

Repeat to deisred size (I did 8 repeats) and end with Rows 1 and 2

Mid-month June KAL is finished

Well here it is... my camera doesn;t take the photo well... plus I didn't block it. I am happy with the finished product and Susan this will be the latest edition to your monthly dishcloth gift... so watch your mail.

I had to rip this out several times because I got distracted and with so many p2tog-b and ssk etc. I couldn't re-trace my steps. Even with the life lines I had trouble. But once I slowed down and turned down the sound on the TV I did better. I can see I still have a lot to learn.

But I am not afraid... bring on the KALs... I will not fail. LOL
(maybe if I keep saying that and wrap it around with prayers it will happen)

The Eggplant baby set is complete

The bib is a littel big on the baby doll I borrowed from Hannah and the hat is a little big too, but the booties fit the doll perfectly. I enjoyed making the booties and the hat but the bib, that's another story, LOL. I really goofed up that one, but I cosmetically covered it well.

My sister Dayna is holding the baby doll here to try to get a better angle, she didn't want to be in the picture. Good thing she did not see my post the other day where I posted her picture with Autumn and Hannah... uh oh.

Now all I need to do is find someone who is having a baby so I can bless them with the set.

Oops almost forgot

My niece Autumn graduated from high school Friday. This is her picture with her mom (my sister and best friend) and Hannah my other niece. Autumn received several awards and was one of two out of 60 seniors that were candidates for regents diploma with advanced designation with honors. She also sang the Star Spangled banner. She will be going away to college in Indiana...

Hannah Rose my sisters other daughter, was over today to play with Adam and while she was here decided to do a little photo modeling shoot, lol. She is a little ham, but isn't she beautiful?

Yep that's my Hannah Rose... I am blessed that my sister lives nextdoor to me.

Hannah has been trying to learn to knit and crochet... Hasn't quite got the concept down yet but she tries every chance she gets.

I guess that's it for updates today... maybe more tomorrow.
Lots of knitting and crocheting still to be done.

Finally a minute to blog

Hello. Adam just went home a couple hours ago. As you can see even being in a body cast can't stop him from playing around. I hope one day I can actually take him to Disney... I'll have to get
myself in shape first.
We bought Adam a bean bag chair so he could try to sit in a more natural position. He loved it. We sent it home with him so they can use it too. I think with this bean bag chair he can even go outside to sit and get some fresh air.
He almost thought he could walk even in the cast though, he tried to get up and walk to his toy box I pratically had to hold him back, Hopefully he will be free in a week or two.
After I brought him home I sat out front and knitted a Wave dishcloth for my mom until it started to get dark. I only have 2 more to go and that project is done.
I did start the KAL for Mid June, had to tear it out 3 times. But I am good now, only row 20 though so not too much to photograph yet, hopefully I'll finish it tomorrow during the car race.

The matching Bib for the Eggplant Booties

Here is the Eggplant Bib... I so totally goofed up this pattern and frantically tried to make the finished piece look like something. I am a little disappointed in myself.

This is the whole set, I may have to try the bib again one day, but not right away. LOL

Again the pattern was greated by Tiff, you can vuew her blog at http://babiesandbitsofyarn.blogspot.com/

I am going back to finish my Wave dishcloths before I tackle the monthly KAL lace dishcloth...

Bootie break

Eggplant Booties.
Aren't they cute? I test knittied them for the pattern creator. What an easy pattern and they knitted up very fast, I mean like an hour tops.

The little flower in the center I added, it was not part of the original pattern. I am now trying to knit the matching bib, and I think I have met my match. I am having trouble. I am almost finished but I am sure it is not exactly how the pattern instructed. I hope to finish that one today.

I did make some more scrubbies but I won't bore you all with more photos now. I think I might stick them all on long knitting needles and put them in a vase and take a picture of my scrubbie garden, LOL.

I also want to start working on the Monthly KAL project, it's a lacey type pattern and I am eager to learn more of these. I used to be afraid of them but now I just want more and more.

Today is supposed to be HOT and HUMID. Oh I wish we had a pool. I guess wet wash cloths cooled in the freezer will be my relief today worn on the back of my neck. Gotta love New York in the summer...NOT.

scrubbies are multiplying

The scrubbies are coming out of the woodwork, LOL. I have actually taken two different patterns and combined them and made a few changes and this is the product it created. I am so loving making these and am looking forward to making the gift baskets. You can't see it but the backs of the scrubbies are fully covered in the cotton yarn, so there is a soft side and a rough side. I am using up alot of the tiny left over balls of cotton I have from the dishcloths and that's how I am getting the contrasted colors with the white.
The scrubbies were only 10 cents a piece, you can't go wrong there. And I have a pound cone of the white cotton still from the Angel cloths a few months ago, so
anyone need a scrubbie...?
Oh and an update on Adam... DR said his bones are healing nicely and maybe only 2 or 3 more weeks with the cast, I say 2. Now to stop the bed sores... poor baby.
Okay I hear my crochet hooks calling my name... they are hungry for cotton yarn...

Scrubbie Maddness

My sister picked me up a couple scrubbies last night so I could try out the new patterns. This one was super easy and very fast to do. Almost looks like a sunny side up egg. The pattern link is here
http://melaniebug.tripod.com/suzetta's_scrubbie.htm

This one is a daisy and there is a sunflower pattern as well. I didn't have a yellow center so not sure what kind of flower it looks like, also pretty and quick to work up
The Pattern: Flower Scrubbies (PDF file) designed by Denise Rothberg, published in Annie’s Favorite Crochet Magazine (October 2002), and now available on FreePatterns.com.

I am hoping to make up several different scrubbies and dishcloths and make baskets for my sisters in law at Christmas time.

Adam's gifts have arrived

Well Adam is adapting to the cast like a real trooper. He is always a HAM too.
God has once again proven that He cares and provides for His children. Adam has received two care packages from people who have never met him. The above gifts arrived today from Nini, I can't wait to show him everything when he comes again on Thursday.
This package arrived while Adam was here. he has already played with the etch a sketch and the Dora markers. he brought the dvd home with him. I decided to save the stickers for another week, to keep things fresh. This wonderful package was sent to us by Sherry.

I just wanted to thank all of you who have been praying for my grandson. I believe he will heal faster then DR's even predict and I know it's because of all the prayers and well wishes from you all.

Well I think I am finally getting a clue

I did it. I figured out how to have a slide show on my blog. I am so so so excited, LOL.

I tried to find a sample of some of the things I have made since I have been on disability. There are more, but I didn't want to put anyone to sleep. Hahahaha

I had my grandson for a few days. It's hard to believe but it is actually easier to care for a almost three year old who is running around everywhere then an almost three year old stuck in a body cast in bed. I sure got alot of exercise tending to him. He is going to the Dr today, I am praying they say it's healing faster then they hoped and he will not have to go for 6 or 8 weeks in the cast. His spirits are pretty good though, he is such a happy child. He held my hand alot, I miss hugging and holding him though. I think I want this to be over even mor ethen he does.

I am still working on the wave dishcloths for my mom, I have 9 more to go to have 24 total. I had to use a couple other colors though as I ran out of "swimming pool" blue and the "summer splash" green.

I also saw a pattern for some kitchen scrubbies that I have fallen in love with and hope to make up some kitchen gift baskets for Chriutmas gifts this year. This will hopefully be a summer project for me.

Not much else is new here, I hope to try to update more often.

Thanks for visiting my blog. I hope you like what you see and read.

Hey are you up for a little contest?

I recently entered myself in a contest for free yarn and a pattern book too (I think) in honor of Pheelya's birthday this weekend. All you need to do is go to her blog and post a message to be entered. Sounds like a no brainer to me, LOL

Here is the link to her blog... http://pheelya.blogspot.com/2007/06/contest-for-my-birthday.html

The direstion are on her blog, but nothing complicated.

Hoping I win, but if you do, that's OK with me too.

What are you still doing here, go enter the contest. LOL

Well here it is the finished YoYo afghan. It is 20 yoyo's wide and 28 yoyos long. My mom saw it for the first time yesterday and said her grandmother used to make yoyo stuff all the time. Her couch was always covered with yoyo pillows. This blanket will be donated to Close Knit Hugs for victims of natural disasters. I may continue to make yoyos and perhaps make my mom a pillow as a surprise.

Good news about Adam too. He is feeling better and we are going to be able to bring him to our house for our usual days, Thursday thru Sunday. I am so happy. I think the 6 weeks will fly by if things follow a normal routine. It's already been 1 week, just 5 more to go.

Oh I took my Bible quiz today... the one about the books on the Bible and I for the first time got 1oo%. I guess reading through the Bible cover to cover last year really sunk in.

I am working on those Wave dishcloths for my mom for the next couple weeks and I have some ideas I am rolling around for some creations of my own.

Need Something to Read??? Say GimpyKatK sent you.
