May 1st... It all begins today

Ok first

HAPPY MAY DAY

In California May Day (May 1st) was the day you gave or received anonymous flowers from someone. I don't think they do that here in New York though, at least it hasn't happened even once since I moved here in 1980.

Here is where I'd put up a really pretty picture of flowers for each of you except I can't. I am actually blogging from the laptop and I have no pictures stored on here yet nor do I know how to store them here yet so my hands are tied. So close your eyes and picture your favorite flower, can you smell the fragrance too? Well consider them a gift from me, OK?

2nd
CONTEST STARTS TODAY

Today is day 1 of my month long contest for May. I plan on having a winner at the end of each week like I have done in the past. This weeks winner, thanks to KatieO will receive a set of handmade stitch markers. I'd link you to Katie's blog and Etsy store but I don't know how to get that info yet since it's all saved on the desktop computer, LOL.

Today's assignment is:

Question???

What is one thing you would like to add to your knitting supplies/gadgets/etc?

Post your answer in the comments section and receive an entry in this weeks contest.

I'll have more information added to the sidebar tomorrow about the prizes etc.

Adam came today, he fell down a flight of stairs. His mom said he tripped on his shoelaces. Thank God he was only scraped up no broken bones. I know there were Angels watching over him today. After the emergency room he wanted to come to Nana's. He played on the computer all afternoon, he is really good at navigating around now, a pro for sure. I can't believe how fast he grew up on me.

Ok I'd love to stay on here and play more but I am tired and need to get to sleep.

I should know results from my blood work tomorrow hopefully it's all good. I'll keep you all posted.

Still no Laptop

Ahh the semi annual DR visit is over. I was able to fast all day so I could get my blood work done while I was there. I should know on Thursday the results. They are checking to see if I need the preventative gout medicine and also to make sure the kidneys are still functioning correctly.

Hopefully after Thursday my face will be resembling that of Adams Rescue pack, LOL

On the way to the DR the gas light came on in the car. My husband was so angry at my kids for using the gas that when we stopped to get some before going up the hill to the DR office he couldn't even pump in a full gallon of gas. I of course was chuckling inside. He so needs to chill, right Shelly? On the way home we stopped again and the tank drank up $42.06 worth of it. Too funny if you ask me.

This is the zigzag diamond dish cloth we made last month that Melanie was a life saver in getting me the pattern lines since I couldn't get on line to get them myself. I like how it turned out.

I have sure been cold all day today. I am thinking of heading to bed early and snuggling up in a blanket. I might even let the cat sleep with me tonight to warm me up a little. Maybe...

Until then remember every day is a gift, make the most of it.

Surprize guest

Well I went to bed with thoughts of trying to sort through the umpteen boxes of mail and junk that has accumulated since I have been out of commission. But we all know what happens to best laid plans, right?

Woke up with "the curse" which usually knocks me down for the count anyway. Then the phone rang and Adam was coming off the bus here today, his mom had a DR appt. I guess. So instead of de-cluttering I played with Adam all day.

Adam also took it upon himself to decorate our Bathroom door with his chalk. You can;t really see it in the picture but when you are sitting on the throne and see this artwork from an angle it looks like the angry face of Homer Simpson or a cartoon cat. LOL.

For those of you who haven't access to Ravelry here is the completed pair of Toddler socks I made with the Cascade Fixation sock yarn. I love them, I sure wish the pictures came out better.

I go to the Dr's Tuesday night for my semi annual physical and blood work. Hopefully we can discuss the preventative medicines available to stop anymore gout episodes. I also want to talk to him about my future weight loss options. I really hate going to the Dr cause they aren't very nice to me but it must be done I guess.

Well I can't sit here much more... still no laptop yet.

I'll be checking in again tomorrow.

I'm still here

Yep I am still here. The computer hasn't died again. I however am not able to sit here long so I am staying away most of the time and just coming to blog and check emails until the laptop is delivered. I see that it has shipped so it won't be long. Maybe even in time for the May BLOG contest. Hard to believe it's almost contest time again. Wow did April fly by or what?

Here is a picture of the 10 charity afghans I have sewn together and crocheted since February. 4 are for Close Knit Hugs and 6 so far for VJG.

Before I finished the Yoyo afghan Adam was playing with the beginning strips, he loves the colors. He thought it was a scarf, doesn't he look cute?

I made it to church today and it felt great. My foot was a little sore from sitting without it being up but it wasn't bad at all.

I am working on fish for a fish afghan now for VJG, I figure I will need about 90-100 fish for a blanket, and I am on fish #23.

Not much else is new around here, my sons art show went well and he even was given several awards. I wish I could have been there to see him get them. Maybe next time.

I hope you are all enjoying the beginning of Spring... we are in for some rainy weather and colder this week, but that's OK. Winter is over and I can take a couple colder days knowing that the worst is behind us now.

Thank you all for the prayers and well wishes and cards I received in the mail, You may never know how much it has all meant to me but I pray God blesses you all for your awesome kindness and friendship.

See you all tomorrow, maybe even from my new PINK laptop.

Well "First, I got tonsillitis, followed by appendicitis and pneumonia. After that I got erysipelas with hemachromatosis. Following that I got poliomyelitis and finally ended up with neuritis. Then they gave me hypodermics and inoculations."

You must be thinking... "Boy, she had quite a time!"

But all I have to say is "I thought I'd never pull trough that spelling test."

No seriously... Gout is nothing to laugh about. I have been burned in a fire, suffered cellulites and had natural child birth more then once with no pain meds, but this is the worst pain I have even endured. The hospital has those smiley face pain charts ranging from 1 to 10, well I told them I was off the chart at about 30. I still have pain, but it's now a comfortable 5 and I can walk without assistance from the walker. I no longer feel like I am 89 years old.

As for the computer issues, well my son got this one to work after cleaning out the 7 feet of dust that collected inside of it. Not sure if it will last but I am thankful to be online at least.

My mom has ordered me a laptop from Dell that I will have 12 months to pay off. Financially it will be a struggle but it is necessary because sitting here at the desk is not helping the foot pain at all. It should be here the first week of May, thank you Jesus.

I am planning on getting to church tomorrow, I have missed 2 Wednesdays and a Sunday and that's more then I can take. I even managed to take a shower tonight so I wouldn't have to aggravate the foot in the morning before hand.

I have uploaded some pictures onto Ravelry of the stuff I've been doing since I have been bed bound. I will post them here too over the next few days for those who can't see Ravelry stuff.

Adam was here for the weekend and it was great to see him again. Life is good.

I hope to get to everyones Blogs again as soon as I get the laptop up and running until then at least I can blog. Woo Hoo.

Nice to know I wasn't the only one who was having issues, excpet that means well, we were ALL suffering, which isn't okay with me.

So there.

From somebody who doesn't blog but once a week....this twice a day thing is a serious brain drain! Now, I know I don't have to do both every day, but get that through this thick skull of mine.

On the up side, AK is a crocheting/knitting frenzy. Right now I'm listening to her talk about the afghan she's working on for Close Knit Hugs. All I can think is that I can't follow the words, and a picture does so much. Ugh. Oh well. Things will be fixed when they are fixed. Apparently I'm supposed to use my imagination just like they did in the days of radio dramas!

Anyway, foot still hurts, but I can tell a difference in her voice. I'm taking it as an improvement. Walking is still limited to the most direst of circumstances (ie dewatering)

On the way back from the little girls room (yep, I bought her a pink shower curtain one year from the dollar store to yank the men's chain) AK decidided to visit her trusty but neglected friend. It was so lonely, it died. Death by dust or desolation? We'll never know. So. Now I have NO IDEA as to her new and improved (???) return date to the computer. Harumph. So much for mechanical things not having feelings.

Jim's art show

I am still immobile but I didn't want to miss a day of blogging, it's my only connection right now to friends and family that I am still alive.

My oldest son Jim is having his art shown next week and since I can't walk he was nice enough to take some pictures so I could see what he was making. I decided to share them all with you. He has a political type of satire to most of them, could be offensive to some but he is young and it's art, what else can I say? Can't tell you the names of them or their hidden meanings I'll just let you go where ever it takes you.

This is the invitation. My son is the man in the top middle picture.

If my foot is still swollen like this tomorrow I may finally break down and go to the emergency room. I don't expect them to do anything for me but I will go anyway.

If I were a horse...

If I were a race horse, they would have shot me by now. OUCH. I actually felt a little better this morning but it's back to BAD already.

I've got the foot on ice, elevated, only walking to go to bathroom, and taking OTC pain meds every 2 hours rotating between motrin and tylenol. So far no real pain relief.

I even had my husband try pushing me in the desk chair to the bathroom yesterday, didn't work well, in fact if someone video taped it I bet I would have won the million on Funniest Home Videos.

Tried to hook up my sisters laptop so I could post and read blogs etc but I can't get it to go online. I am so sad.

Thanks Shelly for blogging for me and Melanie for calling me and giving me the newest rows on the KAL.

Here's another video of Adam, hoping it's the last and the next blog will be a real one from me.

Hello Jelly Bean

Well this has been a long day. I am finding myself a little on the worn for wear side, if you know what I mean. Like a favorite sheet that you can see through in several spots. I even took an hour nap this afternoon but it didn't really help much.

Still making blankets. Almost finished with the Maggie Mix (#3 for Close Knit) and should have a picture of that tomorrow. Then I can start getting the last 3 colors of yoyo's for VJG #6.

I think Adam is coming down Monday with his momma to visit for awhile. Not sure why, it's out of the norm for her. She wanted to come this morning but I was on my way to church. I offered to bring them with me but she wasn't up for it I guess.

I had a few church people tell me I was looking like I lost weight today, I don't think so, I've been losing and gaining the same 2 pounds all month. Maybe it was the Spring type clothes I was wearing instead of my thermal looking long sleeved dress I have worn for months now.

Not much is new around here at all... have any of your heard of Michael Buble? He was just here in concert and I guess from what I heard he is pretty good and there was quite a crowd there. I haven't heard him sing yet but I am curious.

That said, I think I'll hit the hay and get some sleep. I see a busy day ahead tomorrow.

He was eating Cheeto's, that's why his mouth is all orange, lol.
I am calling this picture Cheetos Face

And this one Smoochies (he was blowing me a kiss)

Speaking of cute kid pictures, when the boys were cleaning this week they came across a picture I took of them and my niece Autumn, oh I'd say maybe 13 years ago. I think it was Halloween time and they were all taking Tae Kwon Do lessons and they were going to a costume party.

It's a good laugh. They are appalled I am blogging this picture, lol. But I think they were cute. They didn't win the costume contest though, a kid dressed as Alfalfa from Little Rascals won.

I finished 2 more colors of yoyo's today, only three colors left and I can start connecting them together.

I also am over halfway through a third blanket for Close Knit Hugs.

Before the end of this week they should both be done and that will total 9 blankets since February and I am going to try to piece together one more for Close Knit Hugs before I mail her the blankets back. I have an idea and hope I can get it together for her.

Tomorrow is church and then NOTHING. DH is working so I will have the afternoon alone. Maybe I'll take a nap. If I had a trustworthy tub, I'd take a long hot bubble bath.

I so want to make a pair of socks soon... maybe next week.

Have a good night.

I did finish Maggie Light tonight, here is a picture. I am still trying to figure out where I can put these blankets to get a good flat photo of them.

What's Up Doc?...For Pete's Sake

Does anyone remember those movies from the 60's or the 70's with Barbra Streisand? Stupid silly comedies but for some reason they popped in my mind just as was about to start to blog.

Speaking of blogging, I was talking to Shelly tonight about the RSS feeds to the blogs and I was wondering how many of you use them? Katie told me about it when she was here visiting and now I am using it and it's wonderful. Within minutes I can see when any of you have blogged. it sure saves time having them all in one place and with just a hover over with my mouse I can see if you have updated. Prior to this I used Ravelry and that was great, until they started lagging a day or more behind sometimes. And then there were the friends who aren't on Ravelry. So the question arose do these take up memory on your computer? Hmm I have no idea.

I have completed Yoyo's for three of the 8 colors for the VJG afghan #5.

I am ready to sew together the squares for 2 Close Knit Hugs blankets tomorrow.

Received a phone call today because of an inquiry I made to apply for a grant to fix up some of the things that need to be fixed in this house. They are coming by tomorrow to make a assessment. If this goes through the next time Katie or anyone else comes to visit they can actually use the shower in my house instead of going next door to my sisters house. No this really happened.

No pictures again today but tomorrow I will have hopefully 2 afghans to show you, but definitely 1 for sure.

I guess that's about it for me... I have a lot of things to ponder before I fall asleep.

Just Hanging Around

Wow it's 12:30am already, I should be asleep. Guess I shouldn't be surprised since I was in bed until 9am this morning. Huh?

I have been working on those Balloon squares that Melanie designed for the VJG blanket and I am on the last one, then a few crocheted checkered flag and the blanket will be ready to sew together, maybe even before the weekend starts. Melanie, I love this cloth by the way, don't get me wrong. This I think will be my favorite VJG blanket of all. Wait till you all see how it comes out.

I did take a quick break this morning to crochet a new project. It was a fast work up and I LOVE it. A friend gave me the idea, I revised it a little and made my own version.

This is what I started with

Then after a few minutes this was what I had.

Add a towel (I know it's a Christmas towel but it was all I had in my stash) and Wala a handmade towel holder for the kitchen or the bathroom.

Adam might be here tomorrow but not until a little later as he has another dentist appointment. They have all over the news about a local dentist and the mistreatment of the small children there. It's a dental office geared towards small children too. I sure hope that is not where they are taking Adam.

Did anyone watch CSI tonight? I think they played mind tricks on us. they were all suffering from a cold and I found myself sneezing all through the show. Coincidence? I think not.

I have a headache tonight, right in my left temple. Is that the thinking side of the brain or the creative side? Maybe that would explain a few things, LOL.

Oh I added another contest to the sidebar... this one is for a $25.00 gift certificate from Loopy Ewe (I think I got that right) anyway it's on her blog so go check it out.

I'll be back tomorrow, hopefully with a finished afghan, wouldn't that be awesome?

And remember don;t just thank God because it's Friday, thank Him for everyday. For everyday is a blessing and a miracle and an new opportunity.

Windy Wednesday

Boy it sure was windy here all day and still is. There is something about the wind though, it soothes me. It reminds me that God is all around, He wraps Himself around us all and even though we can't actually see Him we can feel His presence and hear His voice and see how His breeze moves things around us. So when I am in the wind I feel like God has His arms wrapped around me.

I've been working on VJG blanket #5. Here are the panels I have made so far. I just need to knit 3 more squares and a couple more rows of the checker flagged squares. I hope to have it all pieced together before the weekend.

Church was good tonight, it was a small crowd but the message was good.

Oh my husband had an Aprils Fools joke played on him but he had no clue. He totally believed it. It was an email from his new boss from the arena where he does security, apparently there is th be a pajama party concert there next month and the email said every security guard was to also wear pajamas, but no slippers they still needed to wear their work shoes. I wonder how many other guards think this is an actual requirement and will show up in pj's... lol.

Not much else new here. I am tired and ready to get some sleep. Well a couple hours anyway. Better then none I guess.

I think I'll turn off the TV and let the sound of the wind (aka God's voice) bring me into dreamland.

Thank God For A New Day

Adam modeling the checkered flag panel for the VJG blanket. I think he thought it was a scarf.

FINALLY!!!!!
I knew there was a way to get a video on here, lol. Thank you Erin for pointing out to me what was right underneath my nose.

So it's a little late but it's Adam coloring Easter Eggs. He watches this over and over again, it makes me smile, especially the part where my sister starts explaining what she is going to do and starts three different sentences that she never finishes. Cracks me up.

Adam came over after day care today so we spent the afternoon together. It was nice, but I was very tired and kept almost falling asleep. He went home around 5pm.

The weather was pretty nice around here today until tonight. DH spent the evening down at the river fishing. But the night ended with thunder and lightning. What can I say I live in New York.

I climbed the stairs tonight to watch Biggest Loser, and then came down to watch American Idol. Gotta love reality TV.

Oh I taped a movie to watch today, The Green River killer or something like that, I think it was on the LMN channel, well I got to the last 15 minutes maybe and the recording stopped. So I have no clue how the movie ended. I was so mad. Just another cruel April's Fools joke on me I guess. At least my computer is still right side up today.

I hope to have some pictures tomorrow of the VJG afghan progress
