What to do with a Saturday...

Well it's Saturday. If I was a child living home with my mom this day would be devoted to CLEANING the house. Yep Saturday Cleaning is what we called it. We would dust, vacuum, sweep, mop, clean bathrooms, change beds, you name it we did it. It would take all day, no playtime for us kids on a Saturday. Even today if I want to clean bathrooms or dust no matter what day of the week it is I still call it Saturday Cleaning. Now my house is definitely ( I always spell that word wrong and the red spell checker line shows up, geez) in need is some major Saturday cleaning in fact I bet it needs a full week of Saturday's at this point. But am I going to spend the day with rubber gloves and Lysol? Yeah right.

Fact is I got a package in the mail yesterday so today is already spoken for. Yep I won a prize on the WhoDuKnit yahoo group, I correctly solved a mystery murder question (the only one out of 4 I even had a clue at solving) and the prize arrived yesterday. It's two 3 1/2 oz skeins of Pattons Classic Wool Merino in colors... and this is the best part... "That's Pink" and "Leaf Green" as well as a pair of Susan Bates size 8 knitting needles and a pattern. I won't tell you what the pattern is of (Jane don't tell either OK?) as i want to surprise you when the felted project is finished. But you can at least see a picture of the goodies.


So anyway my day today will be spent working on this project. As well as finishing up the one I started for the final contest prize. I am ready to attempt the felting process on that one. Still a little nervous that I will goof it up but I have to try right?

Also something else will have my attention today.

ADAM IS HERE.... HOORAY

He came running in too excited to speak to show me his new shoes. Aren't they the cutest. Then I asked for a kiss and he leaned his head to me so I could kiss his Fuzzy head. LOL. Is it possible he is getting too big for Nana kisses already, say it isn't so. Then he went straight for the computer. Yeah he's not a baby anymore is he?

Aside from the felting projects I also have two other things I want to work on. One is my own design (not knitting or crocheting though) and the other is an idea I saw on another blog months ago. So I have plenty to do, guess those cobwebs can sigh in relief they have some time left to live. LOL

Here to hoping you can enjoy the weekend too and not have to spend it cleaning. However, if you have a stuffy nose I bet that PineSol will clear it out for you. Hahahahahahahaha

Find Time For Friends Friday

Wow it's Friday already? How did that happen?

I ended up not letting Adam come yesterday, I really wasn't feeling good. I think i am a little better today so he should be dropped off here shortly.

I didn't knit a thing yesterday. Just couldn't wrap my brain around it. I HATE being sick. I do plan on knitting today and through the weekend though. I have to finish the surprise part of this weeks contest prize.

Speaking of contest stuff... below you will see a couple pictures of what I do with my scrap yarn, the pieces range from 2" and longer of pieces of left over yarn tied together and wrapped into a ball, then I make these crocheted hot pads out of them. it's worked in the round so all the tied end just disappear inside, no end tucking needed, can it get any easier then that? Nope.




They come out with such random color schemes, no two are exactly alike and they are double thick to keep the table tops safe from those hot dishes. I love making these.

Now onto today's CONTEST STUFF.

Well so far the paperback swap is pretty great. They do also swap hard cover and audio books too. I listed 27 books and have already sent out 3 and ordered 1.

Good news though I cleaned off the bookshelf behind my bed and now I have a place to put the laptop when I settle down for the night. This is the real bonus.

I am thinking maybe Adam and I will go to the park today, the weather seems to be pretty nice so far. And Lord knows I can use the exercise.

The Dr's keep telling me to get in touch with my body. Mine isn't all that communicative but I heard from it the other day after I said, "Body, how'd you like to go to the nine o'clock vigorous toning class?" Clear as a bell my body said, "Listen, dummy, do it and you DIE."

Thursday, Tried and True

I am getting a later start today. My fault totally. I found a new thing to make my life easier. Well I think it will make my life easier, lol. I have oh maybe about 1 million books, some read, some not read yet, some I will never read. Jane told me about paperback swap and I am hooked. I joined this morning and already listed 27 books and mailed one out already. I have a new mystery on reserve for me for the WhoDuKnit group. I am so excited. I finally can start de-cluttering my stash of books.

Ok can a person go to prison for murdering a FLY? There is a HUGE fly zooming all around me and it's driving me crazy. The fly swatter is missing, actually I had to hide it because Adam wanted to play with it, he thought it was a flag or something and it was too close to his face, eweee, can we say germs!!! Well I hid it so well now I can't even find it. So I am frantically waving (I wanted to cross out this word like I see others do on blogs but I don't know how to do that, darn), no swinging is more like it, my little blanket at it. I haven't hit the fly yet, but I have knocked over the fan, the lamp and my bowl of knitting needles and pens. Can we say more messes to clean up then I wanted to deal with today.

Speaking of Adam they called today and he wants to come see me. He didn't go to school cause he was also sick, but she thinks he is good enough to come here. I told her I was sick but she wasn't concerned. I guess he will stay over night and got o school tomorrow from my house. I do miss him and I am relieved to see he still wants to come see me. I was worried about that. I know it was silly, but I was.

I do need to get groceries though. I can go without eating but I have to have something for Adam.

Ok time to catch a fly... hmm I wonder if I have any HONEY

Weezy Wednesday, Whine Whine Whine

Yep, it's official. I AM SICK. I thought by going to bed early and resting during the day and drinking my water I could avoid the inevitable. As usual I was wrong. I think I have used up 3 boxes of Kleenex in 2 days, crazy huh?

Of course sleeping with a fan blowing directly at my face for 2 days didn't help much, but come on now, breathing is not an option, right? At least the humidity has broken and I am not too hot to handle. Ok maybe I still am, but at least I am not sweating.

It occurred to me today that after this weekend the contest is over. What oh what will I do for the month of JUNE? I guess I better use the month to plan for JULY and AUGUST, looks like there will be a two month in a row contest and it's just around the corner.

I ordered some buttons from a seller on ETSY almost 2 weeks ago and I still haven't heard from the seller or received the buttons. I guess I should convo her, huh? I really need these buttons. I have several projects that will be finished once they arrive. I think I already left a positive feedback too, oh well.

Tonight is church night but not sure if I will go if I am not feeling better. Actually I know I will go, I always feel better after being in God's house.

Tuesday, but it feels liek a Monday

Is anyone else mixed up after the holiday weekend? I can't get my mind around the fact that it's Tuesday already.

Maybe it's all the humidity here in NY. I can't breathe. I actually went to bed at 10pm last night, I had to. I figured maybe if I was asleep I'd forget that I was so uncomfortable. Of course I sleep with a CPAP mask, and that just kept sliding all over my face making me feel even hotter. Grrr This guy looks like he is sleeping so peacefully, lol

Believe me if I was sure I wouldn't die in my sleep last night I would have gone without.

OK enough complaining I know there are others much worse off then me, I really am blessed and need to act that way.

My sister just came over, she brought me some left overs from her BBQ yesterday and a grapefruit for breakfast. Thank God for Dayna. But she has a bite on her neck, probably a spider bite, It's swollen and hurts but not red. I told her to take some Benedryl. I researched a little about spider bites and this fact came to my attention...

EWEEE...YIKES... EWEEE... Snacking along the way. God help me, we get lot's of spiders in this house.

Guess that's it for me. I am going to go research how to keep spiders out of the house now. Gosh they are even in King's palaces... is there any escape?

Monday Is Memorial Day


Memorial Day Weekend

I guess I am patriotic. My birthday is November 5th and often falls on election day. I remember my mom dressing us in red white and blue on all the flag holidays. But sometimes I wonder how much about these holidays I really understood then or even understand today. I have been blessed to never have known or lost a loved one in a war. Yet I do think that there is a special place in heaven for those who give their lives to help another.

It's not all about a day off from work or a parade or a family cookout. Today is the perfect day to pray for those who serve and those who love those who serve. And for our country, and for our leaders. The Land of the Free, One Nation under God.

Ok can I say day 4 with my husband underneath me is driving me CRAZY. God help me when he reitres, I think I'll have to move out. LOL. I have a system, a routine and well let's just say it all goes out the window when we have days off. His time schedule and mine just don;t match anymore. He likes to rise early and I like to sleep in. He likes to watch hunting and home improvement shows and I like game shows and movies. He doesn't eat breakfast but eats non stop from 1pm to 9pm. I like breakfast at 9am, lunch at 3pm and dinner at 8pm and then I'm done. I stay up until past midnight knitting and he wants the lights off at 8pm. Yeah you get the picture.

{{{sigh}}} I haven't heard from Adam since I brought him home on Saturday. They finally got the Internet over there he may never want to come here again. Oh what will I do without the Bubba here? Technically he isn't supposed to come again until Friday but they always call on other days. I guess I am worrying for nothing. He just makes my days so bright, Grandchildren are most definitely Gods way of bringing Joy into our lives.

Ok I guess I better go fold some laundry or some other mundane household chore while I am being watched... Thank God for the IPOD and VOLUME control.

Sunday, I once was blind but now I see

Woke up this morning with the hymn Amazing Grace running through my mind.

Last year I watched a movie about the composer of this song. It was called "Amazing Grace" it was a very interesting movie not one I would have normally watched but my mom was pretty convincing. It took place in London I think and was about ending slavery. The writer of this hymn lived during that time and he was a slave trader and it was the things he did during that time haunting him that turned him to God and led him to write this awesome hymn. Even without the tune the words are HOPE.

Adam went home yesterday. I took him to my moms first to play on her swing set. She gave him $2.00 so I could drive thru Old McDonald's (as Adam calls it) for french fries and chicken nuggets. Adam had the dollars in his pocket. I had ZERO cash on me. I drove through and ordered and when I got to the window I asked Adam for the dollars and he didn't want to give them to me. Uh oh panic... I already ordered and I have no money. "Nana, I keep my money, ok?" NO Adam I NEED that money. I finally got it and he was happy with the food, but next time I will make sure I hold the money LOL.

Well I am off to church in a few minutes. Need to get a small breakfast then brush my teeth, I have already showered and braided my hair.

Saturday, Dazed and Confused

Yeah I have to admit it, I am easily confused these days. If it weren't for me putting the day in these Blog titles I'd really be lost. I was sure yesterday, all day long, was Saturday. Maybe it was because Adam was here, and my husband didn't work yesterday or there was nothing on TV... yep sure sounds like a Saturday. But then to make matters even worse, I was sure it was May 28th yesterday too. That means I lost 5 days somewhere.

Hmm it is possible to have Memorial Day weekend and not have any memory?

I'll tell you who does have a memory... Adam. He has been asking to go back to Crocodile Lake since he's been here. I'd love to take him but it's a little bit of a drive and honestly with the gas prices jumping up another 15 cents this week who can afford to take a leisurely drive?

I do, however, remember when gas prices were under a dollar, and thinking it was outrageous when it climbed to $2.00. Now I think a gas station would sell out in minutes if the price was $2.00 again. We actually have a car dealership out here that is offering gas (for a year or 3 years, I forget, not a surprise huh?) at $2.99 a gallon if you buy a car there. They may actually go broke doing that if gas continues to spike like this.


Now for those of you enjoying a weekend of sun at the beach or poolside this cartoon is for you, LOL

I sure wish it was me. Those are memories I won't ever forget. I will always be a California girl. I will never be a New York Yankee.

Finally Friday... Find the FO

It's the weekend and a Holiday weekend at that. So does anyone have any plans? I remember back in the day when my kids were young we were at the campgrounds in our travel trailer for the long weekend. Yeah a vacation for everyone except ME. I had to unpack everything, make up all the beds, stock the frig, wash up the dishes from storage, clean the bathroom you get the drift? While I was doing all this my dear husband would be starting up a campfire and watching the flames from his camp chair. The boys were running around looking for other children, wanting me to get them their bikes, find their missing toys blah blah blah. Oh and now it's almost Noon and they are all wanting me to fix lunch. I haven't even sat down yet. {{{Sigh}}} tell me again why we stopped camping, it was so relaxing. But what I did love was when we stayed there for a week or two continually, we got into a routine. And there were three, yes THREE, large built in swimming pools. That is almost HEAVEN to me.

This may be blasphemy but I would almost give up YARN if I could have access to an in ground pool year round again. I swear my mansion in Heaven will be underwater. Growing up in California I believe I am 60% fish and now living in New York I am a fish out of water.
There just aren't enough warm days to swim out here, and if it's warm enough there is probably a thunder storm lurking around the corner to ruin it.

Can you tell I do NOT heart NY???

All that said I find it amazing that I am actually thinking of taking Adam camping sometime. yeah I must have brain damage.

Adam did not come yesterday after all but he called me a few times on the phone. And he IS coming today, he just called again.

Yesterday was a guess day... I hate to admit ti but there were 77 balls or skeins of variegated yarn and that doesn't include the specialty yarns like my Strata self striping. I have some serious stash to use up.

I found my notes on the slipper sock pattern I lost yesterday so I already knitted up one and a half slipper socks. I will finish up the pair today and hopefully finish another one as well. I also need to make about 30 more fish to finish the afghan, and then I can work on the squares I have left into one more. That will give me a total of 8 completed blankets for VJG and I believe I have one more coming from a friend in the mail. I was hoping for 10 by June 1st. I am hoping for a miracle. But even so, 9 donated blankets is still GREAT. I have wanted to donate for years and never follow through, this year it's getting done.

Well Papa just left to get Adam so I better get ready.

Thursday- Turn on your Thinking Cap Day

Well I just heard some sad news this morning. Steven Curtis Chapman (a Christian musician) had an accident yesterday, his son accidentally ran over their 5 year old daughter in the driveway and she did not survive. I know these things happen all the time, no one is exempt. But this really hit home to me as my nephew was killed in the same way when he was only 2. It was such a sad time and it's been 10 years now and there are still wounds that have not healed in some members of my husbands family. It saddens me so and so I will be praying that the faith this family has will carry them through and not allow the anger and resentment and sadness and guilt to break them apart. Well the phone just rang... guess who's coming over again today after school? Yep Adam. There is no school tomorrow so they figure why not have the bus drop him off today instead and I can bring him home Friday instead of Saturday. He's a good boy, but this Nana is tired. Oh well, this means I have the weekend free to KNIT something. Right?

Yesterday was Adam's mothers birthday. So when I drove him home yesterday afternoon we stopped at the local flower shop on the way and I let Adam pick out a flower for his mommy. I should have brought the camera he was so cute in the store. He loves flowers. He picked out a beautiful dark red carnation. We had made a card before we left and he brought that into the shop with us. He took the flower to the counter and handed it to the lady and showed her is card too. He was so excited. She wrapped it up and put a red ribbon around it and charged me a whopping $1.00. Can't get any better then that.

I took the band aid off yesterday, the bleeding had stopped, no red lines running up my arm I figured it was all good. This morning I started a pair of slipper socks on circulars... guess how many times I poled that stupid hole in my thumb? Too many...OUCH. So I am sporting another bright red Dora band aid once more. A knitters gotta do what a knitters gotta do, right?

Wednesday- What's Going On?


That is only about 1/10th of the backyard at my MIL's house it's beautiful up there and Adam had a ball. It's hard to even remember now but this time last year he was in a full body cast. Amazing how fast they heal, children. I wish I could heal that fast now. Can you see that slide in the upper portion of the picture, they call that area "The Witches Forrest". Hmm maybe that's why Adam is running away? They also had a play house there and Adam said there was a giant spider in there that wanted to EAT him. Yeah he has no imagination.

Well I got in my workout yesterday. After 10 hours sitting in uncomfortable chairs working at the polls I came home expecting to rest and relax. I got home and since it was late I thought I'd help DH by bringing in the dog with me. That was a fiasco. First I noticed the gate was open so I had to walk to the gate first and close it, then back into the garage maneuvering around the two cars and the motorcycle to shut the garage door, then back around the vehicles to get to the back door to shut that, all while tripping over a yelping overweight beagle that wanted to go inside. Then I unhooked the dog, again around the vehicles to the side door, and out we go. I have a duffel bag and a HUGE water mug (see picture on yesterday's blog) in my hands, I walk to the house and climb onto the back deck, but I still need to latch the gate as the dog can push it open, the dog is still barking quite loudly and frequently and the cat is sitting in front of the gate not bothered in the least (he's deaf now)but I am trying to latch the gate and it won't line up and the dog won't shut up and I am getting frazzled, out of breath, tired... blah blah blah. I yell at the dog to shut up as I poke a hole in my thumb with the rusty hook. My DH comes to the door as this all finally ends yelling at ME. Come on!!! I had his dinner cooking in the crock pot while I was at the polls and one of my children unplugged it, {{{sigh}}}} I planned on cereal for my dinner but there was NO MILK. Nighttime eating wasn't as planned but today is another day right? But the rusty nail hole in my thumb now that’s another story aall together, lol. How does one knit successfully with a Dora The Explorer bandaid on her thumb?





I did get a little knitting done at the polls, mostly though I was helping a co-worker there re-learn how to knit. A couple more pieces to my current blanket, the swatch from yesterdays pattern and a hot pad.

Contest stuff:

Yesterdays pattern the Blanket Rib was pretty easy. Wendy to answer your question I made a small swatch by casting on 21 (20 for the even number +1 more) It made maybe a 4” swatch. I gave it to my co-worker so when she practiced at home she would know what it was supposed to look like so I have no picture. It is a very think sturdy stitch and would make a nice scrubber or dishcloth.

Tuesday Try A New Stitch Day

Morning everyone.

It will be a quick blog post for me today as I will be working the polls for our school board election and I MUST decide what yarn and needles and projects to bring, plus plan and pack food for the day, I won't be home until 9:30pm tonight.

What's up with the Spring weather? It's 38 degrees in NY this morning, burrrrr.

Here are a couple pictures of Adam from the weekend. I love him in his Iron man glasses, what a ham, huh?

This picture is funny to me because Adam has NEVER wanted anything to do with stuffed animals. The closest he ever came to the was these past couple months when he wanted to sleep with a yarn ball. LOL But here we are at a party and one of the girls had a Care Bear left on a chair, Adam sat there and next thing I know he is holding the bear as if it were his favorite toy.

Blanket Rib Stitch

Works on multiples of 2 plus 1 stitches.

Row 1: Knit in the front and back of each stitch. You will have twice as many stitches as when you started.

Row 2: Knit two together, *purl two together, knit two together. Repeat from * across. You will be back at the number of stitches you cast on.

Repeat these two rows for pattern.

Make Room For Monday

Yes God is always working on our insides and that's what matters, right?

Now who is that behind that humongous mug of ice water? Why that's Adam of course. He loves ice water as much as I do now. My boys love water too. I guess it's true your kids develop tastes that are similar to yours. At least with water it's been true in my life. Isn't that mug awesome? Shelly sent it to me, she got it for a bargain price of $1.50.


Water is such a good thing to wash out the insides, don't you think?

Sneezy Sunday

Maybe it was being outside most of the day yesterday in the country with lot's of trees and stuff that's causing the sneezing. Yeah I'd like to blame it on that but I was sneezing before yesterday so probably not. It could be I am too old and am starting menopause and sleeping with a fan blowing on me every night is the culprit. Who knows, but I can say Kleenex is happy because I think I have increased their stock value by thousands, LOL.

I got a zillion pictures yesterday, Ok I exaggerate I uploaded 53 pictures, Now don't panic I won't show you them all today. I think I will show you three pictures from Crocodile Lake aka Tomhannock Reservoir. Or should that be the other way around. Anyway... we stopped on the way to the party and Adam and Papa tossed several rocks into the water, Papa's skipped Adam's plopped. It was so cute. The scenery is beautiful and I knitted and took pictures and just watched them. When we left he started crying but we assured him we would stop again on the way home. He did not forget that we made that promise 5 hours later.

Now in between we had a blast at the party. They had a DJ and everything. All my husbands brothers have girl children ranging from age 2 to 11. There is one boy and he is 13, so basically Adam had his pick of pretty girls, lol and he was right in there with them all day. I didn't know it but Adam can dance!!! It was so cute. I didn't have my sons new camera that takes videos so I tried to take some with my cell phone. I emailed it to myself but I still haven't received it yet.

The food was OK No Vegetables though and I need veggies. Adam wasn't interested in too much food but he did have some meatballs and some chocolate cake. He'd take a bite and go "MMM dee...licious!!"

Finally about 7:30pm we headed on home but wait we have to stop at Crocodile lake one more time. I told Adam it was going to get dark so he could throw 5 rocks and then we had to come home. He said "how about 10 rocks, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10" We agreed but said no crying this time we have to go after 10 rocks. He cried, and then fell asleep on the way home. But he had fun.

Saturday we go to Crocodile Lake

It looks like we will be bringing Adam with us to the surprise party today. And he is thrilled because we have to go around Crocodile Lake aka the Tom Hannock Reservoir. We told him about it last night and so far this morning it's all he has been talking about.

I sold a pair of socks from Etsy last night and Adam, well suddenly he is taking an interest in my socks. I couldn't get him to even try on a pair last month. I told him the pink socks were for a girl and he was a boy, whew that worked. But he found another pair he liked and had to try them on, now I can't get him to take them off. Am I going to have to buy these socks myself???? Guess I need to hurry and knit up another pair to replace these ones in case they sell too. Oh man...I have to knit socks. Hahahahahaha what punishment, NOT.

Oh my TV is starting to die. The picture is starting to squeeze in from the sides, right now it looks like a fat hour glass, but it's getting trimmer each day, pretty soon there won't be any picture to be seen at all. What will I do with ADAM and no TV... oh I don't even want to go there.
He may not want to come to Nana's anymore without Blues Clues... guess he will have to watch the shows on the computer. But I am gonna miss the TV too, at least most of the shows I watch are having the season finales by next week. I hope it lasts that long.

Well I guess that's about it for me today. Need to shower and get Adam's bag packed so we have what we need when we are out.

Can You Find It Friday

Well Friday is here. Are you all TGIF people or is Friday just another day for you? I never really was a TGIF girl, even when I worked full time outside the home. I LOVED my job and still miss it most of the time. Friday's just meant I was going to have to do a zillion things over the weekend, like laundry, dishes, grocery shopping, cleaning, opening the mail from the week, paying bills... yeah you get the picture. I actually looked forward to Monday's instead. I guess I am a backwards person. Actually the better word would be peculiar.

I guess one good thing about not working is I can basically knit whenever I want. However yesterday I didn't want to very much. Can it be possible I have had too much of a good thing? NO it can't be. I think I was just feeling a little off yesterday. I did work on the mystery KAL and still have no clue what this will be, but it's pretty. Guess what color I am using? When it's finished I'll post some pictures... maybe I'll post progress pictures and see if you can guess what it is from the different stages. If I remember to take pictures that is. We all know how my memory has been these last couple months.

Thursday Time to Tell

Good Morning-
Well I should have titled today's blog, TIRED THURSDAY. I am exhausted. I think it was chasing Adam around yesterday looking for all those clues. LOL Oh if you could have heard him, he was so cute. Singing the words to Blues Clues while he walked around the house and then saying "A CLUE" and then you'd hear him say " A CLUE, WHERE?" then he'd call me to come and find the clue. I wish I could have video taped it, It was priceless.

The message at church went well enough. They all laughed when I handed out the clue magnets and said "Looks like someone misses Children's church" Yeah several of us do, but at the moment all of our children have grown up and no new additions yet.

Speaking of new additions looks like Adam's mother (Angie) might be expecting again. I think she's CRAZY. I bet Adam though might like having a new baby around. This news though really upsets my son Joe (Adam's daddy) as he still thinks he and Angie should be together. Kids, sometimes you wonder where their brains are at.

Wednesday, Who, What, Where, Why? It's a Mystery

What's up with these mystery cuts and scrapes I have appearing out of nowhere? It's not like I am outside playing, I am basically house bound and sit in my bed most of the day. The latest scrape is on the back of my heel from the bottom to the top. And WOW does it hurt. I can't for the life of me imagine how I managed to cut it. It's a MYSTERY? Hmmm maybe I should ask my new crew over on the WhoDuKnit blog... they re always up for a mystery.

Tonight is my night to teach/preach at church. I haven't spoken in a month or two. Had to miss my last time because of the gout episode. I haven't worked on the message yet on paper, just in my mind. But I know it's going to have something related to "getting a clue" and I have made little Blues Clues paw print magnets to had out to everyone there. Here's a picture of them.

Now if I could just get a clue as to what I am exactly going to say. This happens often though, thank God He usually gives me something to say when I walk up to the microphone.

Speaking of Blues Clues Adam is coming over after school today. I got the call this morning. Woke me up from a weird dream. He's a good boy though. Might be hard to get in my shower before church though, can't leave him unattended, who knows what he might get into with me in the shower. How did I do this when my kids were young? I don't remember. Geez another Mystery.

Speaking of Mysteries and stuff let's get on with the contest stuff today.

1st- I did start the sample swatch of yesterdays pattern. I had a cone of white cotton on the shelf behind my bed so I used that. I started late so only did a few rows but I do like the stitch. If I were to describe it I would say it looks like a seed stitch border except instead of every row in seed stitch there is a knit row in between so the bumps are spaced out a little more. Here is a picture of what I got done.



Now Wednesday is RIDDLE DAY-

Welcome to Tuesday, It's Tried and True

Greetings friends...

I am glad to see that you were all blessed on Mothers day and were also able to bless another as well.

Well I did get half of my chores done yesterday, hopefully I can finish the rest today. My legs were killing me last night, I might have over done it just a tad. For some reason every Monday I seem to get it in my head that I MUST get the housework done and then Tuesday and Wednesday I am practically of no use to anyone. Hmm now that I think about it I do most of my knitting on Tuesday and Wednesday, maybe I secretly plan this. Wow the things you find out about yourself while blogging. LOL

I was able to browse around on Ravelry yesterday and found a few new friends and a couple new groups that got my attention. I am almost afraid to browse around on there too much because I find so much on there I could spend days, months even years. Yikes the housework will really be out of control if I did that. Yeah I need to discipline myself.

Tuesday is Try Something New Day

Here is a new stitch to learn today
( I am trying to pick some of the easier stitches so we don't stress ourselves out, lol)

I suggest knitting up a small swatch so you can see what the stitch works up like and then you always have a reference for future projects. Of course if you are like me you will probably do a whole dishcloth or something... I find it hard to do bits and pieces, I am often an all or nothing gal, lol. But I am working on this fault.


Anyway post in the comment section if you are familiar with this stitch, if you love it, hate it, can't be bothered, whatever.

Ok that said here is this weeks new stitch pattern

Dot Stitch also known as Spot stitch

Works on an even number of stitches.

Row 1 (right side): Knit.

Row 2: *Knit 1, purl 1. Repeat from * across.

Row 3: Knit.

Row 4: *Purl 1, knit 1. Repeat from * across.

Repeat four rows for pattern.

The wrong side of this stitch, where the purls are prevalent, is known as Sand Stitch.

Okay before I sign off and publish this I just have to brag about Adam's latest achievement. He learned how to type and spell several words yesterday on the old Apple Laptop I gave his mom this weekend. He can type ADAM, MOM, DAD, NANA, PAPA and JAMMA. He just had to call me and tell me over the phone yesterday. He was so excited. Yep, there is no doubt Adam is a genius and I am not biased or anything. Hahahahaha. I can't believe he will be 4 in September, it seems like just yesterday that he was born but then again it seems like he has been a part of our lives forever. Was there really any life before grandchildren??? Now there is a question to ponder.

Ok I am leaving now, got lot's to do, fish to knit, mystery KALS to figure out, yarn to think about buying... oops and laundry. Who said that?

Monday Make Room for another Contest Week


Good Morning everyone. It was pretty quiet here over the weekend, I am guessing that's because you were all spending time with your mom, children, grandchildren, grandparents etc. I did.

Saturday I went to a mother daughter luncheon with my mom. I don't have a daughter so I didn't bring anyone with me. My sister Dayna was there with her two daughters as well. My sister Erin (who by the way is doing so so so good now. She looks alive again and smiles again and thank You Jesus is free from the bondage her new husband was enforcing on her) was supposed to come but at the last minute had to go home because of discipline problems with my nephew Colin. They had delicious food, lots of fruit for me. The desserts looked almost sinful LOL. I did have a couple, it was Mothers day after all.


Sunday I went to church, and my husband took Adam to the circus. I didn't go it was just not happening with recovering from the gout and other female issues in full swing. Church was nice, our worship leader is in Israel, so we sang along with an old CD that reminded me of our early church years before we had live music. It's hard to believe I've been going to this church now for 20 years. After church my mom stopped by and brought me some lunch. Then later that afternoon Adam and his mom Angie come over to visit me. They stayed until about 9pm, mostly because we ordered them a pizza to take home and the delivery took longer then we hoped. But it was a nice visit.

This ended up being quite a busy weekend for me and I was TIRED. Went to bed early last night and it felt good. And that's why this blog is started so late. Oops.

Saturday Something Smells

Yeah I thought that title would get you over here looking? LOL, hmm should I have a surprise contest today to guess what I am smelling? No that wouldn't be fair because I am pretty sure you wouldn't guess in a million years.

Let's see a few hints...
1- It's NOT a dirty diaper
(Yesterday Adam actually stayed in underpants all day right up until bedtime and only had one accident, it's a real breakthrough)

2- It's NOT cookies baking
(Wish it was as I am craving sweets in the worst way this week. Besides I need a new cookie sheet if I want to bake something like cookies, my cookie sheet now is so old it needs help, lol)

3- It's NOT fish
(Yep DH has once again been spending every waking moment that he is not working down at the river fishing, but he never brings home any fish... hmm should I be worried? Nah no one in their right mind would eat a fish out of the Hudson river these days, LOL)

So what pray tell is left for me to be smelling? Are you closer to figuring it out?

What you want more clues??? Oh Ok

4- It's NOT a cleaning product
(But there is a hint of a Christmas tree pine scent to it)

5- It's NOT lotion
(But there is a softening effect from the source of the smell)

6- It's NOT fruit
(Even though Adam has some apples right in front of me, I really can't smell them at all)


Go ahead take a guess, you have until tomorrow.

One last hint, there are three distinct smells to this scent, the first initial of each scent is
P, E, & P.

The first P you should be able to figure out pretty easily.

Honestly though don't fret over it, just take a guess if you feel up to it.

Adam's new word of the day is ridiculous. Isn't that just the coolest thing? Now he wants to go outside and catch falling leaves, how do you explain to a three year old it's not the right season to do that?

FRIDAY Find The Mystery Picture Day

Well it's Friday finally. I feel like this week has put me through a ringer. Today was just CHAOS. I am thinking I should have stayed in bed. LOL

My sister Erin came by tonight, she made me some dinner just because she loves me, she said. All I can say is she looks like a different person already and her husband has only been gone 2 days. I am so so happy. Now as long as he doesn't charm his way back again all should be good.

I sold another pattern from Etsy today. What a fiasco, I can't access the patterns from the laptop and couldn't find it on my old computer. So I had to re-write the pattern up and then get it on WORD, and of course I didn't trust my quick write up so I also had to quickly knit it up to make sure it was right, lol. Yep that's how my morning started. Bet you wish you were me huh?

I saw the cutest pattern on Ravelry today it was a change purse made out of the mini knitted socks. I saved it in my queue but I'll probably never get to them because the pattern is $10.00 but I can dream right?

Thursday Take a Guess Day

Wow can you believe it's Thursday already, where did this week go?

I made it to church tonight and I am glad I went. I really miss it when I can't get there. The message was are you comfortable in captivity? It sure gave me some things to ponder.

Update on my sister I believe she has told her husband to leave. Hopefully he will stay away, she made him leave once before and then let him back. She is back to work so I think she is feeling better. Thank You Lord for a quickly answered prayer.

As you can see they are all of different shades of blue both solid and variegated. I can't wait to start sewing them together, I am still a little confused at the method used to put them together, CBBC or something like that. This is the reason I haven't made an afghan already, I get frustrated because the seaming confuses me. Oh well, I am trying to vision it in my head, if I see it I can DO it, right?

Well this blogger is feeling a little sleepy, no nap today and I am feeling the sandman calling my name already.
