Tuesday- Are you ready to Tackle

Morning everyone.

First I have had a few ask about what TOM is? TOM stands for time of the month. With me it's more like TOY time of the year. lol. Anyway now aren't you sorry you asked?

Sad news around here. I think we might be having to put our dog down. Lady has stopped eating, can barley walk, her back legs keep giving out on her. I can only imagine the pain she must be in. I of course keep putting it off, I identify with her. She is the dog version of me. I feel like I deserve a chance and so does she. But when it enough enough? This was Lady last night just before I went to sleep.

CONTEST STUFF

OK TUESDAY is TRY SOMETHING NEW DAY

I chose a new pattern stitch called Little Arrows. Here is a picture of the swatch I started last night. It was hard to show up with the camera, but it's a really pretty pattern. I think it would make a great pair of socks.

Here are the pattern directions:

Little Arrows

Definition:
Works on multiples of 8 plus 1 stitches.

Row 1: (right side) Knit 2, purl 2, knit 1, purl 2. *Knit 3, purl 2, knit 1, purl 2. Repeat from * to last 2 stitches, end knit 2.

Row 2: Purl 3, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1. *Purl 5, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1. Repeat from * to last 3 stitches, purl 3.

Row 3: Knit 1. *Purl 1, knit 5, purl 1, knit 1. Repeat from * across.

Row 4: Purl 1. *Knit 2, purl 3, knit 2, purl 1. Repeat from * across.

Repeat these four rows for pattern.

On my swatch I casted on 39 stitches, 32 for the multiple of 8, plus 1, plus 6 for a border (3 on each side) and I knitted 4 rows before I started the pattern. I was surprised at how easy it really was. I liked it a lot.

Your contest assignment is to give this stitch a try today. Post about it in the comments section to receive another entry in this weeks contest. I am sure I don't have to say it but I will in case we have a first time visitor... if you don't want to try the stitch, or already know the stitch, absolutely hate the stitch or any other reason you can think of... NO PROBLEM. Really a comment is all you need to do to receive an entry. The rest is just for fun.

My water therapy was GREAT yesterday. I can't wait to go again tomorrow.

I also received in the mail yesterday some yarn I won in a contest a few month ago. I helped name a teen podcast. I am not sure exactly what kind of yarn this is, but it's beautiful. I'll show pictures later this week, but my camera and lighting doesn;t do it justice at all.

Oh and just a reminder, visit those other contests on my side bar, there are some great prizes to be won. You can't win if you don't enter, right?

See you all tomorrow

lol, no TOM here, i have just always called it EDNA. I sympathise about your pup. We are afraid that by fall we will be in the same situation. Not a good one but you want to do what is right at the same time. Heartbreaking truly.

glad your therapy went well! new stitch will have to wait till tonight!

I'm sorry to hear about your dog's failing health. One of the best books I've ever read was called The Daisy Sutra http://www.daisysutra.com/ It is about a woman faced with the decision of when to help her ailing dog die. I found great comfort in the thought that the connection between me and my dog will be strong enough that I will somehow know when the right time comes. I'm sure you will know when that time is.

It's been many years since I had to worry about TOM - no wonder I didn't know what it was! So sorry about your dog - I know how sad that can be when they are a member of your family.
Nice stitch - can't wait to try it.

I'm still here!! Sorry to hear about your dog. That's such a hard decision to make.

The stitch looks very pretty, but I won't be able to try it today. I'm a little behind on doing things. But I will try it because it looks very nice.

I'm happy that other things are going well for you. God Bless!

Sorry about your dog! Big Hugs! The stitch is pretty, I'll have to mark it for later though. I'm in training for the Ravelympics (and trying to get a few projects done for vacation) so I don't have much time right now. But I will definitely try it later! :D

I know how you feel about the pooch. My mom and I went through that this spring, when we put down our lovely dog. She was having the same symptoms and would whimper when we pet her... so put her down and she is at peace. It was hard for the moment, but the knowing that she wasn't hurting anymore quickly replaced that and we felt at peace ourselves! Good luck. Very hard choice to make.

I am so sorry to hear about Lady. My dog is getting older too, she has mitral valve prolapse, arthritis, she is deaf, and she cannot jump into bed anymore (her hips and knees are in very bad shape). I know she will let me know when she is ready to go, I just hope that I am ready to let go at that time. My prayers are with you and Lady.

That stitch is so pretty! I will give it a go... we just returned from holidays in Florida so I'm still trying to catch up with everyone and everything!

So sorry about your puppy! My parents just had to put down one of their dogs -- she was only 2 but had a muscular problem (myosthemia gravis) and was deteriorating fast! Now they just have the 12 YO dog left and they are afraid they'll lose her this year too! So sad!

Oh, Kathy! I've been through this with pets, and it's just the hardest thing imaginable to have to decide for them. I've found that they do tell you, in their own way, when it's time for you to let them go. My heart goes out to you - (hugs)

I'm so sorry about Lady. I sure don't envy you making that decision. It would be hard not to be selfish and want to keep her around as long as possible.

Congrats on the contest goodies and a great session of water therapy.

Hugs!

Thanks for coming by my Daybook, and thanks for the nice comment. Your swatch stitch is pretty. I've tried knitting, but I prefer crocheting. For some reason, it's easier for me to do. I'm making my dd18 an afghan that she wants to take with her when she goes to school out of state next month.

So sorry to hear about Lady. I went through that a long time ago, it is not easy to lose a family member.

Oh Kathy!! I'm so sorry to hear about Lady. We've gone through this several times with our pets. It's such a hard decision to make because our pets are definitely members of our family.

But, there is good news!! I read a book called "Heaven". And in this book, it tells how there will be our animals that we loved in Heaven. God created them, God loves them (He saved them all in the flood with Noah),and they will be with us in Heaven.

Also, I love that new stitch. I think I'm going to try it out on one of afghans squares I make for charity--either the Instant Afghan for The Gathering or for The Ghana Project--or maybe both!! It's very lovely!

Now, I'm so glad I know what TOM is and I'm glad that TOM doesn't visit me any longer because he can be a literal pain!! I never liked when TOM came to call.

Love ya',

Beth

Congrats on the yarn and winning that contest - I remember you posting about it a while back.

Oh I'm so sorry to hear about lady. We went through the same thing with our oldest (21 yo) cat Bright Eyes. I know how hard it must be for you.
