Tuesday- Take Time To Smell The Flowers

These are what I see as I sit here on my bed on the computer. One of my boys gave me this plant for Mother's Day ions ago, and it still blooms into these beautiful flowers. I love it when the window is open because the fragrance fills the room and it makes me smile.

Sgs 2:16
My beloved [is] mine, and I [am] his: he feedeth among the lilies.

Now onto CONTEST STUFF

TUESDAY is TRY a NEW STITCH DAY

I fell asleep last night and forgot to do my own swatch so this picture if from the stitch directory

It's called Granite Relief Sitch

Granite Relief Sitch (multiple of 2 sts)
Note: the instructions are a generic pattern for creating this stitch pattern. For a single repeat, you'd only need two stitches (but you'd have a VERY narrow piece!) In the example shown, there are eighteen repeats of the stitch, so to make a swatch that looked the same, you need to cast on 36 stitches (16 x the 2 multiple.)

Row 1 (RS) Knit.
Row 2 K2tog across row.
Row 3 K into the front and back of each st.
Row 4 Purl.

Rep rows 1-4.

So are you game? Want to give this new stitch a try? perhaps you already know this stitch, so tell us what have you made with it? Post your thoughts in the comment section to receive another entry in this weeks contest for the Knitters Gadget Jackpot. As you all know you don;t have to try the stitch to get an entry all you need to do is leave a comment, OK?

I came across an interesting idea when I was blog reading this morning... Knitting Badges

These are just a couple of them... it's kind of funny and I bet like me you probably have earned a few of the badges yourself. Go check it out if you have a chance.

Guess that's it for me... I am off to attempt to knit those socks from the sock blank today... I hope.

Good luck on the socks....I do not think I am game, today to try the stitch...BUT I did write it down to try when I feel crafty. I have not done much at all these past few days...I guess I was doing too much and got just a little burned out...BUT I have SO MUCH to do that has already been paid for in full, and promised, that I hope I get back in the swing of things like really really soon........

Beautiful flowers. I think all flowers should bloom right outside the bedroom window.
As for the granite relief stitch: I don't think I've tried it, unless it's been in a dishcloth. But I have seen it as a square for an afghan and I think maybe a scarf. I do like the looks of it. Maybe I will make a square out of it.

The Granite Relif Stitch is a handy cloth, square or background stitch for a pillow. I like the texture. And I love the flowers. Since I have a black thumb I barely can keep plants alive but I sure enjoy seeing and smelling them. The knitting badges are fun. Had not run across them before. Thanks.

I have used that pattern for dishclothes... it works very well. Enjoy the flowers... they are very purty.

morning Kat! I love that stitch!would make a great scrubbing face cloth! My neighbor has beautiful flowers like that all around her yard. They are gone this summer and us neighbors have been taking turns watering for them, even though they said not to worry, to keep them alive. Of course i also have access to their blueberries! yum

Beautiful lilies!! I just love lilies, and I can see that you do, too!

As for that stitch, I just received a traveling scarf in the mail yesterday--was searching around for a stitch to do--I think I'll this one out. It should work just fine. So, thanks for helping me out.

Good luck with the socks--starting mine AGAIN tonight along with the book title of my life. I'd better do the blog first. If I start knitting, I won't stop to do this, and it's important to me.

Have a wonderful rest of the day!!

That stitch looks like it would be a fun switch from moss or seed in some areas.

The badges are fun!

Keep us updated about the sock blank. I broke down and bought 2....but have too much on my plate right now to start one!

Hello Aunt Kathy, I'm new to your blog and anxious to join in the fun. I found your button on Mel's Lil Knit of This and That. I love the flower photos; I could look at nature photos day and night. What a beautiful view you have! Have a blessed day.

Beautiful flowers! And those knitting badges are funny. I think I may qualify for the MacGyver level I. ;) I haven't tried this stitch. It looks nice though, maybe someday I'll get spare time and get to try it. But now it's off to work to try to get more stuff finished before vacation. :D

Hi Kathy! I'm kind of busy right now to try this stitch, but I'm writing it down to try later. It looks like a great stitch. Thanks!

I'm under the gun to finish Minnie Mouse and some thread ornaments for friends.

Have a great day!

Good Lord, woman. You are becoming quite the pop these days!

OMG, I am soooooooooo tired. I am waiting to put drops in my mom's eyes. We left here at 815 this morning, came home long enough to pick up the girls, put more drops in and went shopping til 5, came home to add more drops and left again until 830. As of last night Jeff was coming here today, but as of now he is not. Job stablility, gotta love it! It's going great, thanks for praying. I appreciate the calmness. Now you KNOW that's an answer. Thanks for prayin'.

How goes it there? I hope to call you soon. Sheesh. I hope to SIT soon. I think my mom was REALLY bored AND I think she's trying to wear herself out before I go so she can sleep a few more healing days off. I donno!

Tell me more about what's going on there. I NEED YOUR BLOG. Get it??

Love the flowers. In all these years, I never knew that. See. We can never know it all *wink*

Miss the chats and Do NOT replace me before I Get home. kay?
