Day 19, Tied up in cables and I can't get out...

Yep... I decided to try to put this design I have in my head onto the needles, it's a cabled design and I know next to nothing about what makes cables work. It started out pretty good, but I can see it needs some help. Heck I need the help. LOL. I think I need to frog it out and start over again. Now I can follow a cabled pattern I just am not sure how to make the cables do what I want them to do. Is there such a thing as a "cable anonymous group" I need help.

In the meantime I worked up a fast pattern called Dainty.

I saw it on a blog and from there joined a yahoo dishcloths group to get the pattern. It was easy to work up and a fast knit, I highly recommend it. Here are the 2 links... I know I was supposed to learn how to have a link without actually showing the link but I never copied the instructions when it was on I think Wendy's comments so I have no clue. Anyway here they are this long way in case you are interested.

Contest for today...
Since I am struggling with CABLES today, I will ask a question of you all.

What knit or crochet stitch type have you been struggling with? Or if you mastered it how long and how many grey hairs did it cost you?

Post your answer in the comments section for an entry in this weeks contest. I know no prize has been posted for this week, I guess it will be a mystery as I have not yet decided what to send. I will however, make sure one is sent so no worries.

Did you all see my hit counter today? I am less then 25 views from 10,000. Maybe you will be the one to turn it over, if you are, please let me know. I think that's worth celebrating.

Adam is happy, Hannah is on her way over with WAFFLES, yummy.

I will take that as my cue to sign off... with Adam and Hannah here it will be a zoo. Plus I have laundry to fold, dishes to wash, stairs to climb, oh yeah and cables to knit...

Have a wonderful day. God made us special just the way we are.

This is going to sound pathetic, but I am struggling with an "increase" in knitting.....I can knit, purl and decrease (that was easy) but can not get the increase, I guess because there is so many ways to do it and I have no idea which way I should do.
When you want to make a link thingy you type the word (the way you want it to be) Like Wendy, then you Highlight it, go to the top to Hyperlink, and click it and put in the link (the long way) and it will change the Wendy to a different color to link to the site.(I hope that I did not make that too confusing)
Have a great weekend, and go tackle those stairs....

Mine is not a particular stitch.....just getting fair isle to not pucker. I've been futzing with it on and off for a couple of years, and, my dear, the number of grey hair it has caused is unknown as mine just commit suicide and never come back!

I was counter number 94...almost there!

I'm number 10001 - it looks like we missed 10000.

I'm not struggling with a particular stitch, but I'd like to be better at using more than one colour in a row (I can make stripes, changing colours at the edge, easily enough, but carrying the other yarn along is taking some practice).

I have to agree with the occassional "pucker" issue that comes with fair isle. On one project i get none, then the next i want to pull out hairs! No rhyme or reason, perhaps yarn choice makes a difference. Had you asked this Q last month i would have answered cables. I have always loved the look of cables but was intimidated by them.I finally forced myself to just do them and am hooked! (although i am not to the point of designing my own patterns so, can't help ya!)
Just got your package and love it! The bag is so cute and the xtras will be put to good use. Your friends name is so familiar , i looked her up on the map though and it is funny, she literally lives across the lake and up the hill from me! Less than a mile maybe!Small world huh! Thanks Kathy!

Since I'm not as big a knitter as the rest of you, the thing that I've struggled with the most is tapestry crochet. When I was making my hot pads, I must have frogged them 5 times or more. Hopefully I've learned how to do it better now. I'll find out when I try my next hot pad pattern.

Good luck with your cables!

Mine is fair isle /intarsia it drives me crazy. This week, I also threw a project across the room when the cables weren't working out for me. I kept losing stitches, etc. So they went flying and then I frogged it.

Have a wonderful weekend.j

Oh I would have to say the wrap in short rows. I still turn gray when I see I need to knit it in a pattern. One day I will get it without huge gapping holes.

Hugs!!!

P.S. thanks for the comments of well wishes, they were appreciated.
