Monday, day 20 of the August Contest

Good morning everyone...

It's Monday, a new week are you all excited about that? I never felt Monday's were bad, I was always refreshed from Sunday and ready to take on the world.

The picture above is my newest original pattern design. I received a request from someone for a church and this was what I came up with. I will be posting the free pattern on my pattern blog (there is a link to it from this one)if anyone is interested. My camera is not the best and this test cloth has one flaw, I missed a row so the church is facing left but if the pattern is done correctly it should face the right. Oh well, you might as well know I am not perfect. LOL

Todays contest assignment...

HAVE YOU EVER CREATED AN ORIGINAL PATTERN? IF YOU DON'T THINK YOU CAN IS THERE SOMETHING YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE IN A PATTERN? TELL US ABOUT IT/THEM.

That's it for today, an easy assignemnt right? I am so having a blast with this contest and hearing about what things everyone likes, does, makes etc.

Thank you also for the comments that lead me to other ideas. For instance yesterday Michelle told me about that scrubbie, which by the way I will be making today, LOL
and Pamela a week or so back got me looking for the snowflake afghan which I will also make as soon as I get some white yarn, LOL.

BLOGGING ROCKS... YOU ALL ROCK.

I have dabbled with making up hats, Pants for a bear, I use to make crocheted pound puppies and made them clothes, I like to use my brain every once in awhile and come up with something, I just recently made up a bag for my local Domestic Violence Shelter, the only problem was someone else wanted to make one, so I had to do it again so that I could remeber how I did it.

I am not as creative as I like to think I am... I stick to a pattern as though my life depended on it and never deviate! I'm the same with following recipes. Hence, I've never invented my own knitting pattern or recipe. I am in awe of pattern designers.

Knit projects that I would like to design are: a cable/lace bolster pillow cover, a blanket that folds up into it's own little pocket to form a pillow (I've sewn several of these before, my Mom calls them "Quillows"), and a pair of arm warmers. I have seen patterns for most of these items but none that are exactly what I'm looking for.

Nope, I don't create, unless it's to fix a mess up. Hummmmmm, I don't know what I'd like to create at the moment. It's back to school time....my brain are fried.

Hi Kathy, When I was making Barbie clothes in crochet, I used to use a basic design and change it to what I wanted. I also created a baby afghan to put into Hershners afghan contest. I got a certificate, but didn't win anything.

I also made a Big Bird pillow that someone asked me to make. I did it in single crochet then cross stitched Big Bird's head on it.

The baby blanket that I'm working on right now I consider an orignial design eve though I'm using a graph from somewhere else for Pooh and Tigger.

Hey Kathy,

I have created 3 harry potter dishcloth patterns and like to dabble with hats... I have lots of ideas but not enough time to get them down on paper and knit up...

I would like to create more patterns myself, but am not quite sure how to get started. I'd like to do more aviation type stuff. Different symbols and such that aviators are familiar with. I have used different stitch patterns to piece together to make a blanket though! it turned out great!!

I don't know if it counts but my dd is into frogs and I took two different patterns and made it look like what I wanted also added a little headband that I did design. I am working on a design for MN gopher symbol for my grandsons blanket. Wish me luck lol.
