Day Thirteen of August's Contest

Good Monday Morning to everyone

I hope you all had a wonderful weeeknd. I did. Had a ball with Adam, got some work done on the charity afghans. Talked to my son in Chicago, was filled with JOY at church, my friend Shelly is home...so many things to be thankful for.

I am so glad you are all still playing and I hope to keep this interesting for the rest of the month. I need to keep my brain working.

Our Assignment today...

IS THERE A STITCH OR PATTERN YOU HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO DO/MAKE BUT HAVE NOT TRIED YET? WHAT IS IT? WHAT IS HOLDING YOU BACK?

I myself have several things I am itching to try, and create as well. I this year learned cables and some lace stitches, the garterlac... the list continues. I really want to make a lacey pair of socks and I want to learn to felt. Hopefully I can try these two things before the end of the year.

I look forward to hearing what you are hoping to master in the near future.

I have always wanted to knit an Aran, fisherman-knit sweater - with a combination of cables in it.
What is holding me back is the other three sweaters I have started (not fisherman-knit).
If I cannot finish a plain sweater, it would be hopeless to think I could finish a fancy one.

A friend just showed me a garterlac scarf... I would love to do one. But I don't know much about picking up stitches and I'm a bit intimidated.... I'd also like to do mittens.... I just haven't sat down with it yet and attempted it! Yikes! Maybe this winter... I'll need them in Michigan!!!

I have to agree with the Garterlac...tried it once but just can't seem to figure it out. Also on my list are socks and eventually some Intarsia.

Intarsia is definitely a mystery to me. I've tried it out and just can't seem to get the knack. I love looking at Kaffe Fassett's books - such beautiful multi-colored patterns really call out to me. One day I will try it again.

I would love too learn how to tat...it looks so pretty but I think it would probably take forever to make something so for now I'll stick to my thread crochet projects. At least I can be sure of finishing those..LOL

Nope, if I see something I want to knit, I knit it. My thought is it is just 2 sticks and some string, you can always frog it. Aunt Kathy, felting is so easy and such a blast, go for it, you won't be sorry you did.

lace!!!! I'm too afraid of it, and I want to do the agrosy scarf from knitty.com, but I doubt I'd ever wear it.

I would like to try something lacy, although I don't do good work with fine threads or yarn. Maybe this winter I can practise.

I would love to become a true knitter and some day make some socks.....I crochet and have found some sock patterns, but I think that knitted would be so much better.

As you can see, I'm getting my entry in pretty late
today. It's a little after 11 p.m.

To answer today's question:

I have always wanted to make socks, but I just can't
wrap my mind around how to do it. I've bought books,
looked at videos and online instructions, and I just
don't get it!

Take care!
