Day 8, starting the second week already

Well hello friends.

How was your day of rest? I had a good day. I decided to re-design the pattern I made last week, and I have to say I LOVE LOVE LOVE this new one. I can not wait to share it with everyone. I honestly think it's my best yet and it involved working with 2 stitches I am not really familiar with, especially without instructions.

Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian friends. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. If I wasn't coming off from being sick, and still not able to eat very much, I think I might have celebrated Thanksgiving twice this year, LOL.

I was asked yesterday what I was thankful for... More then I can blog in one day. Mostly that God has His hand carrying me, even in my darkest hour (and that was last week by the way) I knew He was there with me. I am thankful for my family (most of the time lol) I am thankful for people I have yet to meet in person that care enough to pray and encourage me when times are hard. I am so blessed.

A brief history on Columbus day as well...
Today we take for granted that the world is round. In the fifteenth century, however, most people believed the world was flat. They thought that monsters or a trip over the edge of the earth waited for anybody who sailed outside the limits of known territory. People laughed at or jailed others who dared think that the world was in the shape of a globe.

Americans might not have a Columbus Day if Christopher Columbus had not been born in Italy. Out of pride for their native son, the Italian population of New York City organized the first celebration of the discovery of America on October 12, 1866. The next year, more Italian Organizations in other cities held banquets, parades and dances on that date. In 1869, when Italians of San Francisco celebrated October 12, they called it Columbus Day.

In 1905, Colorado became the first state to observe a Columbus Day. Over the next few decades other states followed. In 1937, then- President Franklin Roosevelt proclaimed every October 12 as Columbus Day. Since 1971, it has been celebrated on the second Monday in October.

OK then, have I bored you all??? I'll get to the contest stuff now... I know that's what you're waiting for, LOL

Ok, the answer is a pattern! I have so many, but always have a hard time finding the one I want! I'm in the process of trying to organize mine. It's a very big job!

I had a good weekend, but didn't get online at all yesterday. I had to do laundry, which made my knee hurt. Then Becca and her bf came over to watch a movie at night. During the afternoon, I watched the Nascar race with dh. That's why I wasn't here yesterday.

I had trouble sleeping last night because my knee and ankle were hurting, so I ended up sleeping in this morning. Then I put ice on it before getting online.

I also got two golf club covers made this weekend. One to go! They're for my dh's nephew who turned 50 last month. They're his b'day present. Better late than never, right?

Have a great day!

Thanks for nice comments on my pattern....I used Sugar & Cream yarn and the color was Yellow. They also have a really bright yellow but the plain yellow was all I had on hand.
Hugs!

I, too, think the answer is a pattern.

Hi Kathy - if it's not a pattern, there's going to be several people who are wrong, not just me!

You're sounding much better at the start of this week, hope you're coming into a period of physical healing. Don't forget that we need the valleys to appreciate the hills and that all living things need periods of darkness to grow (think seeds - mustard). Cyber hugs,

ohhhh woman, I'm so tired, all I could come up with is a word....as in word search, free words, pay for words when you buy a book. Oh dear. I think I need some sleep.

Thanks to everyone for guessing the same answer so I know what the answer. Feel free to chuckle at the nucklehead!

Need Something to Read??? Say GimpyKatK sent you.
