Monday Is Memorial Day

Memorial Day Weekend

I guess I am patriotic. My birthday is November 5th and often falls on election day. I remember my mom dressing us in red white and blue on all the flag holidays. But sometimes I wonder how much about these holidays I really understood then or even understand today. I have been blessed to never have known or lost a loved one in a war. Yet I do think that there is a special place in heaven for those who give their lives to help another.

It's not all about a day off from work or a parade or a family cookout. Today is the perfect day to pray for those who serve and those who love those who serve. And for our country, and for our leaders. The Land of the Free, One Nation under God.

Ok can I say day 4 with my husband underneath me is driving me CRAZY. God help me when he reitres, I think I'll have to move out. LOL. I have a system, a routine and well let's just say it all goes out the window when we have days off. His time schedule and mine just don;t match anymore. He likes to rise early and I like to sleep in. He likes to watch hunting and home improvement shows and I like game shows and movies. He doesn't eat breakfast but eats non stop from 1pm to 9pm. I like breakfast at 9am, lunch at 3pm and dinner at 8pm and then I'm done. I stay up until past midnight knitting and he wants the lights off at 8pm. Yeah you get the picture.

{{{sigh}}} I haven't heard from Adam since I brought him home on Saturday. They finally got the Internet over there he may never want to come here again. Oh what will I do without the Bubba here? Technically he isn't supposed to come again until Friday but they always call on other days. I guess I am worrying for nothing. He just makes my days so bright, Grandchildren are most definitely Gods way of bringing Joy into our lives.

Ok I guess I better go fold some laundry or some other mundane household chore while I am being watched... Thank God for the IPOD and VOLUME control.

Thank you! I'm excited - what great yarn. I'm a horrible sock knitter, but I will try to do it proud! You have the same birthday as my DH, and besides sometimes falling on election day, it also falls in the first week of hunting season - so I rarely see him on his birthday LOL.
I did make a red, white, and blue felted bag last year - actually for the 4th of July.
Thanks again! And Happy Memorial Day!
Jane

Yes I find it hard when dh is at home too. Especially on a school day. My routine gets totally busted and the kids take advantage of it too!

I haven't ever knitted anything with a patriotic theme. It seems like that's a less popular thing to do here (unless a hockey theme counts as patriotic, in which case I still haven't knit anything yet but I'm not ruling it out).

Lol, hubby got out of the military to be home for a change! We were apart for so much of the first 12 years of our marriage that it's ok to be under the same roof. But i do understand, mondays are usually mine and mine alone to get things done. Today though hubby is on line playing games with the boys and daughter and her friend (who usually lives here on the weekends) have walked down to the park on the lake to play on the swings. I am quietly getting things done and a little knitting as well!
I did knit a patriotic matt for the tables center last year. I would love to make a larger one. I have a flag quilt i have not assembled yet. Hmmm, may need to break out the sewing machine! Our flag disappeared when i went to put it out the other day...need to pick up a new one i guess! Hope all has been well Kathy!

Congrats to Jane!
I don't think I have knit anything patriotic...maybe I should give that some thought.
I feel for ya...I hate when somebody messes with the routine.

Hugs!

Hi Kathy!!

I had to stop and think about this--but then I remembered--my office supervisor was an army nurse in the early 70's, and she is very patriotic. I always make her a red, white and blue dishcloth for her on the 4th of July. How could I have forgotten that? She even has special 4th of July dishes!!

I've never seen anyone more patriotic than this lady. I'm so glad you posted this--made me remember that I have to make her annual RWB dishcloth!! She would be disappointed if I forgot.
