Well I am running LATE LATE LATE today. I guess I am still tired out from my workout yesterday, LOL. Well that's my excuse and I am sticking to it.
Actually I ordered myself some sock yarn today. I am insane. I couldn't help myself I saw the colorway and my fingers just opened the ETSY store and hit order. Wanna see the yarn??? Yeah you can see why I had to have it, huh? Guess I'll have to skip lunch for a month but I am trying to lose weight, right? Oh if you wanted to check out the ETSY shop click here.
OK let's get onto CONTEST STUFF
THURSDAY IS GUESS DAY...
Below is a picture taken of some stashed knitting magazines. Can you guess how many are in this pile?
Post your guess in the comment section and receive another entry in this weeks contest for the Knitters Gadget Jackpot prize. Remember just a guess is all you need to do, doesn't matter if you are correct or not. OK?
PS thank you Jane for sharing your stash photo for the contest today.
I have a HUGE week coming up and it all starts tomorrow. Adam comes tomorrow for the weekend, I am a moderator on a yahoo group now and tomorrow starts a tutorial/KAL on how to design a dishcloth. I am new to this moderator business and new to teaching how to design, since I am still a novice myself, but I am praying that God will give me wisdom and direction through it all.
Haven't touched the socks again since Tuesday, maybe I can do a little more today.
Gosh I know I had more to say but my mind is blank, and it's so late I guess I'll just publish and save it for tomorrow.
Enjoy the day, do something you enjoy, say something nice to someone just because you can, be a light in the darkness, and remember nothing will happen today without God's approval and provision.
Don't these grapes just look so happy? Almost like they are whistling while they work. Hmm what kind of work exactly do grapes do? LOL
Well I started the sock yesterday. I started right after I blogged in the morning and by bedtime this was all I had accomplished. I started, frogged, tried a different pattern, frogged, cast on with circulars, frogged, tried DPN's, frogged, finally I ended up with this. It was 9pm by then and I was tired, LOL
I am by the way "Flat Feet" challenged. I couldn't figure out how to knit 2 socks at the same time, I need hands on help, LOL. And the "Flat Feet" panel is 2 strands thick... so i ended up un-raveling it into 2 equal sized balls of yarn. That took forever too, but thank God I have no knots to untangle.
Today is water therapy and church tonight so I expect no more progress will be done until Thursday, but I'll keep you posted.
OK onto CONTEST STUFF
WEDNESDAY is RIDDLE DAY
Don't you love a good riddle or a good rhyme? I myself write tons of them all of the time Today's theme is knitting related of course It has nothing to do with food or a horse My topic today are tiny and thin And using them is so not a sin Sometime there are three or four or five Depends on the pattern, you get my jive I prefer the bamboo version for my joints Yep these needles are my harmony double ????
Ok there you go! Post your answer to this riddle in the comment section to receive another entry in this weeks contest for the Knitters Gadget Jackpot. Remember your answer doesn't have to be correct, you just have to comment.
I guess that's about it for me today... I am off to get some breakfast... fresh strawberries (not grapes today... I just couldn't, LOL) and some yogurt. I like a light breakfast before going to the pool.
Have a wonderful day today, whistle, or hum your favorite uplifting song today while you knit or work or play.
These are what I see as I sit here on my bed on the computer. One of my boys gave me this plant for Mother's Day ions ago, and it still blooms into these beautiful flowers. I love it when the window is open because the fragrance fills the room and it makes me smile.
My beloved [is] mine, and I [am] his: he feedeth among the lilies.
Now onto CONTEST STUFF
TUESDAY is TRY a NEW STITCH DAY
I fell asleep last night and forgot to do my own swatch so this picture if from the stitch directory
It's called Granite Relief Sitch
Granite Relief Sitch (multiple of 2 sts) Note: the instructions are a generic pattern for creating this stitch pattern. For a single repeat, you'd only need two stitches (but you'd have a VERY narrow piece!) In the example shown, there are eighteen repeats of the stitch, so to make a swatch that looked the same, you need to cast on 36 stitches (16 x the 2 multiple.)
Row 1 (RS) Knit. Row 2 K2tog across row. Row 3 K into the front and back of each st. Row 4 Purl.
Rep rows 1-4.
So are you game? Want to give this new stitch a try? perhaps you already know this stitch, so tell us what have you made with it? Post your thoughts in the comment section to receive another entry in this weeks contest for the Knitters Gadget Jackpot. As you all know you don;t have to try the stitch to get an entry all you need to do is leave a comment, OK?
I came across an interesting idea when I was blog reading this morning... Knitting Badges
These are just a couple of them... it's kind of funny and I bet like me you probably have earned a few of the badges yourself. Go check it out if you have a chance.
Guess that's it for me... I am off to attempt to knit those socks from the sock blank today... I hope.
Week 5 is here, we have hit the halfway point in the contest. It's great to still see everyone coming by each day. Week 1 we had 77 comments, week 2 we had 86 comments, week 3 we had 90 comments and last week we had 106!!!!
Well I never did get to the blocking. I ended up babysitting my nephew Sunday after church which meant my niece and her friend were over too and well it was noisy and chaotic and I just didn't get to it. So here are the pictures, unblocked... I made two of the heart dishcloths (one of my free patterns) and there are 4 of the hot pads (the picture is a little dark, but they are navy blue...lol)
OK onto CONTEST STUFF... First let's send out a SHOUT of HOORAY and CONGRATULATIONS to the winner of last weeks prize (sock yarn and harmony circular needles) comment #68 was chosen by my trusty random generator and the winner is TEA. This was from her comments on Thursday with the caption photo... I believe the winning comment was "What'd ya say?" Well TEA what I am saying is YOU WIN, lol... Adam is giving you a cheer too.
Now onward to today's CONTEST ASSIGNMENT and this weeks PRIZE
MONDAY... BRAGGING rights are yours today. Tell us what you have been up to this past week, did you find any new patterns to try, did you finish a WIP that's been hanging around too long? Whatever, maybe you just organized your stash. Whatever you did tell us.
Post it in the comments section and receive an entry today for this weeks prize (pictured below and also on the side bar fore the week). All you need to do is leave a comment for an entry, so get to it... you might just be the lucky winner this week.
(note I put some yarn in the yarn sleeve to demonstrate but the yarn is not part of the prize, just the sleeve, lol)
Well I guess that's about it for me. I have a few things to finish up around here before I head off to the Y for water therapy.
Have a wonderful day, find a reason to smile and then share it with another. Your comments always make me smile.
1st is Adam at Crocodile Lake AKA Tom Hannock Reservoir... there was thunder and lightening near by so we didn't stay long and I took all the pictures from inside the car through the front windshield.
This slide show is from the birthday party. Adam had a great time. He loved the fruit platter, and the strawberry cupcakes and Bella the dog.
Okie Dokie... The weekend is here. I am sitting here waiting for them to call and say Adam is ready to come over. There is a birthday party today for my niece who is turning 3 and we want to bring Adam. he loves it up there with all the kids.
In the meantime I guess I'll share a couple pictures. First this is the swap stuff I received from Anita O that I mentioned yesterday. My camera doesn't do the colors on thew cloth justice, it's absolutely beautiful. I have been wanting to do this pattern and now I am sure I will, it's called Circles and it's from Smarieknits, who by the way I consider a friend now thanks to blog world. LOL.
Close up of the dishcloth
This is a pattern I designed for a yahoo group I belong to called WhoDuKnit... I have mentioned them here before but it's a group of knitters and crocheters who read a mystery novel each month and then we make something that we thought of while reading the book. Occasionally we have a mystery KAL and this month it was this... Obviously I did not block it, but I swear I am going to learn it by the end of this weekend. I HAVE to. I wish Rachel would come over to help me, only need hands on training once and then I am good to go, LOL her blocking skills are over the top, just beautiful. But I am sure you already know that. I also made a beret hat for my WhoDuKnit project from the last mystery I read (PD James book) I didn't care for the book but I was glad I read it, because it has awakened my desire to read again, it has been years. Anyway I couldn't find a beret pattern I liked so I finally settled on this one... but I modified it drastically and then I felted it. LOL... I am calling it "Killer Beret" now after felting I'll be lucky if it fits on a doll head, but hey, it was fun anyway. LOL Here are the pictures... before and after felting.
I have been working on filling an ETSY order and have 1 dishcloth and 1/2 of a hot pad left to do. I should have them all ready to mail on Monday. That is if I learn to block the dishcloths, lol, oh man, oh man, oh man. I'll show pictures of the dishcloth tomorrow hopefully the before and after blocking.
Oh and I am such a goof... I kept getting a message from Flickr that I had too many photos... so I went and cleaned them out... now all the projects I had on Ravelry... the photos are missing, oops.
Guess I'll be trying to re-create some pictures, LOL
Ok still no call from Adam I guess I am going to go call myself. I'll see you all tomorrow.
Remember even though no contest stuff over the weekend all comments still count. I'll announce the random drawing winner on Monday.
Well today was supposed to be my Adam day but apparently they have planned an outing with Adam so he can't come until tomorrow. OK... I will try not to think they are just doing this to keep him from us. No need to go there, right? I will however keep him thru Sunday and maybe until Monday as well. I have therapy on Monday and maybe I'll bring him with me or leave him with his Daddy for a couple hours.
I WILL have some pictures of knitting things this weekend. I've been working on a new ETSY order and I received a swap package from Anita O yesterday too. So stay tuned tomorrow and Sunday for pictures.
Love the caption ideas yesterday, especially Tea's looks like she was on a roll, LOL. How many captions did you think of, lol... 3, 4, 100... I loved it, they all made me smile.
FRIDAY'S CONTEST ASSIGNMENT
FRIDAY IS FIND THE FINISHED OBJECT DAY
Below you will see a part of a picture I took from someone who commented on my blog yesterday (Thursday) Your assignment is to find the blog it came from...make sure you leave the blogger a comment too, you know how much we all love comments. In fact maybe you can leave a comment on every blog you visit today searching for this finished object. Imagine all the smiles you will generate.
Don't forget to comment on my blog, lol... tell me where you found this finished object and you will receive another entry in this weeks contest. If you just can't get to the blog hopping today, that's OK too, just leave any old comment for an entry. Maybe later over the next couple days you will get a chance to visit some of these great blogs. Never any pressure here, it's all FUN FUN FUN. LOL
As usual there are NO contest assignments over the weekend, but still please come and comment because all comments made thru Sunday night will be counted as entries, OK?
Now my weekend mission??? I need to figure out what I want next weeks prize to be. Any requests? Patterns, stitch markers, yarn, something I have made... you tell me. I am up for any and all suggestions.
Well it's NOT raining today and it's NOT humid but it is in the mid eighties temperature wise. I think I might just go float in my pool this afternoon, that is if I make some progress on that ETSY order, lol.
Wow it's Thursday already. Funny how fast the weeks seem to fly when there is a contest going on.
It sure is wet outside. I think we have had 4 inches of rain already and it's still raining all day today. I actually like the rain so it's all good.
I received my first sock blank in the mail yesterday. I have never used one before but am anxious to give it a try. I just need to pick out a pattern. Here are a couple pictures of it, any suggestions on a sock pattern I should try?
OK onto CONTEST STUFF
The answer to yesterday's RIDDLE was PRIZE, and yes it did rhyme with eyes.
Today Is THURSDAY and since last week we had a "GUESS" picture today Thursday is CAPTION DAY.
Below you will find a knitting picture I found on the Internet. It is crying out for a "Caption" to describe it. So put on your thinking caps, and see what comes to mind. I tried to put the link on the picture but if it doesn't work it came from this web site (www.ffwdweekly.com)I want to make sure to give credit where it's due.
Post your CAPTION idea in the comments section and receive another entry in this weeks contest. No worries if you can't think of anything, any comment counts, OK? This is supposed to be fun for everyone, and everyone has a chance to win, right?
Not much else going on here... today is bill paying day and hopefully knitting day too. Tomorrow Adam comes, so rest is definitely in order for me today.
I am so thankful for each and every one of you for continuing to come back and play in my contests. I really enjoy doing them and seeing so many return just makes it all the more fun for me.
Have a wonderful day, full of reasons to celebrate. That's my prayer for you all.
I swear thinking of the title for the days blog is the hardest part about blogging. I try never to repeat them and I tell you I am running out of ideas fast, LOL. Guess that's the price to pay for blogging everyday.
As for the situation with our dog Lady, she is still here. I have some very awesome friends who are very involved with dog rescue and the shelters etc. and one of them has offered to come and get Lady and see what can be done and handle it for me. This is a huge relief. Not sure when it will happen but I feel all the worries washing away.
I mentioned yesterday that I received some yarn I won in a contest a few months ago. This picture doesn't do it justice but I thought I'd share it with you anyway. It's a lovely shade of purple with a pink sparkle like tinsel in some spots. Does that make sense? Not sure exactly what kind of yarn it is, I am new to knowing that, up until a few years ago I thought acrylic was all there was, lol. It might be wool. I think maybe I have enough to make a scarf, but not sure.
OK having a HUGE thunderstorm right now but hopefully I can finish this blog before the power or Internet goes out. Looks pretty dark out the window.
CONTEST STUFF
WEDNESDAY IS RIDDLE DAY
I am something that everyone would love to get Some have gotten some already and some not yet It's always fun when you see it's for you It will make you smile even if you are blue This may not make you rich or popular or give you fame But regardless we all want one just the same If you want it though you must do something first Not trying at all would just be the worst But when you do there will be a light in your eyes When you discover you are the winner of me a contest ?????
OK there you go... post in the comment section your guess to the answer to this riddle and receive another entry in this weeks contest. As always, your answer does not need to be correct you just need to try. Or if you don't want to try, no problem, just leave a comment.
Don't forget to send your friends over to play too, and remember if you have this contest linked on your blog you receive and extra entry each week.
I guess that's it for me today. I actually made something with yarn yesterday, maybe I can repeat it again today and make something else. Pictures to follow this weekend.
Have a wonderful day, let God wash away all your worries, He loves to carry them for you because He can.
AK Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
First I have had a few ask about what TOM is? TOM stands for time of the month. With me it's more like TOY time of the year. lol. Anyway now aren't you sorry you asked?
Sad news around here. I think we might be having to put our dog down. Lady has stopped eating, can barley walk, her back legs keep giving out on her. I can only imagine the pain she must be in. I of course keep putting it off, I identify with her. She is the dog version of me. I feel like I deserve a chance and so does she. But when it enough enough? This was Lady last night just before I went to sleep.
***************** CONTEST STUFF
OK TUESDAY is TRY SOMETHING NEW DAY
I chose a new pattern stitch called Little Arrows. Here is a picture of the swatch I started last night. It was hard to show up with the camera, but it's a really pretty pattern. I think it would make a great pair of socks.
Here are the pattern directions:
Little Arrows
Definition: Works on multiples of 8 plus 1 stitches.
Row 1: (right side) Knit 2, purl 2, knit 1, purl 2. *Knit 3, purl 2, knit 1, purl 2. Repeat from * to last 2 stitches, end knit 2.
Row 2: Purl 3, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1. *Purl 5, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1. Repeat from * to last 3 stitches, purl 3.
On my swatch I casted on 39 stitches, 32 for the multiple of 8, plus 1, plus 6 for a border (3 on each side) and I knitted 4 rows before I started the pattern. I was surprised at how easy it really was. I liked it a lot.
Your contest assignment is to give this stitch a try today. Post about it in the comments section to receive another entry in this weeks contest. I am sure I don't have to say it but I will in case we have a first time visitor... if you don't want to try the stitch, or already know the stitch, absolutely hate the stitch or any other reason you can think of... NO PROBLEM. Really a comment is all you need to do to receive an entry. The rest is just for fun.
***************************** My water therapy was GREAT yesterday. I can't wait to go again tomorrow.
I also received in the mail yesterday some yarn I won in a contest a few month ago. I helped name a teen podcast. I am not sure exactly what kind of yarn this is, but it's beautiful. I'll show pictures later this week, but my camera and lighting doesn;t do it justice at all.
Oh and just a reminder, visit those other contests on my side bar, there are some great prizes to be won. You can't win if you don't enter, right?
Good morning. And it is good. Trouble may have come our way over the weekend but we survived. We are still standing. God is good. It all depends on where our roots are planted. And where our eyes are focused. I thought this cartoon described it perfectly. Mikes web site address runs up the side of the cartoon, go check it out, he is awesome. You can get these cartoons emailed to you as he writes them too, I do and I love it.
****************************************************************************** CONTEST TIME
First off lets reveal the winner of last weeks contest. The 28th comment was chosen my the random number generator and the 28th comment was posted on Wednesday by MARI, CONGRATULATIONS Mari you will be choosing two patterns from the Harvest Moon pattern store. Of course she won't see this until Tuesday or Wednesday as she is away at a wedding without Internet service. What a great surprise to come home to.
I have updated the blog with this weeks contest prize information. I am calling it the Knitting Sock Kit, a circular sock size needle and enough sock yarn to make an adult pair of socks.
Now onto Monday's Contest Assignment...
Monday we ask ourselves a question... Today's question is...
WHAT IS THE MOST CHALLENGING PROJECT YOU HAVE ATTEMPTED SO FAR? DID YOU FINISH IT? HAVE YOU TAKEN A BREAK? DID YOU GIVE UP? TELL US ABOUT IT IN THE COMMENT SECTION TODAY AND RECEIVE AN ENTRY IN THIS WEEKS CONTEST.
Remember rules here are flexible if you can't think of anything or just don't want to tell, that's OK too, just leave a comment anyway about anything you like. Any comment counts, OK?
I've been keeping track of the comment totals...
Week 1 we had 77 comments Week 2 we had 86 comments Week 3 we had 90 comments
Think we can get 100 or more for week 4?
Also please remember to check the side bar for those other contest out there. Some are just as easy as mine, all you need to do is leave a comment. I update them daily as I find other contests. I like to share the wealth.
Today I go to water therapy and as you all know I LOVE water therapy but today I am going to love it even more, because this is the first time since I started a month ago that I will not have to deal with TOM in the water. It's a miracle I tell you, a miracle. There will be no holding back today, I can swim without fear.
As you can see by the pictures above... Adam ended up coming yesterday after all. Doesn't look sick to me. I guess he caught wind I was on the phone and wouldn't give them rest until he could come to Nana's. He stayed the night, but didn't want to go to church so I brought him home this morning. I finally remembered to bring the camera down to the Hudson River. Adam just loves it there. The tide was low and there were people fishing, including Papa, so they wouldn't let him throw rocks in the water. Next time we will go at high tide. At high tide all those boulders you see Adam standing by are buried under river water.
Next year after I have my health back and most of this weight off, Adam and I will hopefully take walks on the bike trail that runs parallel to this River. There really are some nice things about New York after all. I guess I don't hate all of it, lol.
I thought I had some finished objects to post but really I only found one thing in the camera and it wasn't anything special. I forgot to take pictures of the swap packages I mailed out last week, blame it on the flu.
But this week I hope to actually get some knitting done so next week maybe there will be something to blog about.
Tomorrow starts a new contest week, and the announcement of this weeks winner.
Until then I am going to go read a little more in my book and try to decide on the next project for my lonely needles.
Oh it's so sad when parents of children can't get along civilly. It's always the child who suffers. It's so sad there are so many children out there who don't have the opportunity of growing up in a home with a mother and a father. Children having children, the cycle is never ending.
Adam unfortunately is one of those statistics. My sweet, handsome, polite, funny, wonderful, amazing, super smart, precious grandson.
His mother (A) and my son just can't seem to get along. Court hearings are scheduled again, let's hit it where it hurts. They want more money. For Adam, no he lacks nothing, we make sure of that. For themselves, maybe, but more to hurt my son. A is getting married next month and makes sure we all know she thinks her new guy is more of a dad to Adam then my son. I disagree, Adam loves his daddy.
This could lead to my son seeking full custody (he lives here half a year anyway) and A is not happy about that. This means she may not let him come here like he does now. Let's punish Adam, it's just awful. He isn't coming this weekend, they say he is sick. I don't know if I believe them, they have had no problem sending Adam here sick in the past.
This video was taken last week, he had so much fun free falling. It starts out dark, but then I turn on the light. I was looking forward to more videos this weekend.
Ok that's off my chest. If you are a praying person, court is July 30th. Thanks.
Now onto other stuff...
Monday I saw the dietitian at the surgeons office and she was please to see I have lost 13 pounds since I started the surgery process. She liked that I was still following Weight Watchers Core plan and that I have started changing my eating habits, smaller bites, chewing longer, drinking slower etc. She also said it is possible for me to have a hysterectomy done at the same time if my OBGYN is in agreement, this would be an answer to prayer.
Tuesday I had the mammogram and ECHO done
Wednesday water therapy... but by them the flu was attacking me full force. I also needed IRON due to the never ending TOM. But praise God no transfusion, we caught it in time.
Thursday I was able to de-clutter several things from my house and it was so good. Such a relief. I still have more to do but just this is a weight off my shoulders.
Friday I rested most of the day but I did test knit the dishcloth I designed for the Breast Cancer calendar for 2009. I can't wait to see all the other new designs being donated. Not sure if I am allowed to post a picture of it yet, so you might have to wait until January to see it.
Today (Saturday) I slept in until 9am. And I feel much better. I have been working on this blog post since Noon and it's already 2pm. Got sidetracked by several phone calls mostly from A and this court stuff. My eyes are sore and swollen from crying, almost feels like a sunburn. Just a bad situation all around. Adam heard me on the phone and came on and said he wanted to come see me, he started crying cause they said he was sick and couldn't come. He said "I feel better, I go see Nana now?" Maybe I can get him Wednesday after water therapy. I really miss him. Guess until then I'll just have to keep watching this video.
Tomorrow I'll post some pictures of finished projects and stuff.
Thanks for hanging in there through this run down of my week.
Remember comments will still get you an entry in this weeks prize of two patterns from Harvest Moon.
See you all tomorrow.
AK Mat 18:5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
I bet everyone is thinking TGIF. It has been a long week for me. But not working Friday is really no different then say a Tuesday.
Got rid of a lot of junk from my house yesterday, I'd say 15 garbage bags full. We worked from 8am to 6pm. Today I rest. LOL *********************************
Weren't those great buttons yesterday? All different sizes and colors. Some really small, and I probably won't find too many uses for them, but I like looking at them just the same.
Anyway there were ... drum roll... 186 buttons in that pile. No one guessed right but some of you got pretty close.
FRIDAY IS FIND MY FRIENDS FINISHED OBJECT DAY
Below is a picture taken from the blog of one of the friends who commented on yesterday's blog. Your assignment? Find the finished object and make a comment on who it was. This will get you another entry in this weeks contest
Of course if you don't have a chance to go searching (But I hope you do, you all have such great blogs, my hope is everyone is reading them too and not just me) No problem. Any comment will get you an entry as usual. So search if you can and if not then just say HI.
As in previous weeks there are no contest assignments over the weekend, just gab and more gab from me about my week, and what I've been up to. But if you come by and make a comment I will add those comments in the drawing for this weeks prize. So I hope to see you all Saturday and Sunday.
Have a wonderful Friday and exercise those arms while you knit/crochet. LOL
I am glad to report I survived the night. I was not sure yesterday, lol.
Yes the answer to my riddle was "KNOT" but I do agree those knots can cause at least a gray hair or two. LOL
To answer the question, yes I make up the riddles. Talking in rhyme is easy for me, finding a knitting/crocheting subject for the rhyme, that's the hard part. LOL.
THURSDAYS CONTEST ASSIGNMENT
Thursday is Take a guess day
Below is a picture I took of some buttons I have in my button stash. These are not by any means all of them, but merely the newest acquired.
Your assignment... try to guess on the number of buttons in this picture.
Remember to post your guess in the comments section for your entry in this weeks contest. You don;t have to be correct but if for some strange reason you guess the exact number I will give you an extra entry. I say this cause I am sure no one will guess it right. LOL but I could be wrong.
Well my little helper just arrived. She is going to help me get some de-cluttering and cleaning done in the house. $25.00 a day is all it will cost me, but so so so worth it.
Hi everyone. Just been fighting again with health stuff. I guess the devil must really think I am a threat or something. Geez.
This will be a short blog post. Honestly my brain and body aren't up to it today.
Oh I did join a group of designers that are making a Breast Cancer Awareness calendar for 2009 and I volunteered to design a cloth for the calendar. I just sent them my idea, so let's see if they like it. After January 1st, I can post it on the pattern blog. I am excited to see all the new designs that are being created, some of our favorite designers are on board, Rachel and Alli and Melanie to name a few.
WEDNESDAY is RIDDLE DAY
Sometimes they come out of the blue And when you have it you know what to do You might cry or with scissors give it a snip They are so irritating and not liked even a bit Pull and twist and pray for a miracle or a break These can sometime be more then you can take Hidden within you never know what you've got Until it appears, that bothersome yarn....?????
Post your answer to this riddle in the comment section for another entry in this weeks contest. Remember your answer doesn't have to be correct, you just need to comment. Okay? So jump in and give it a try.
I am going to therapy to see if I can work through these body aches in the water. I called the DR but he's in surgery today. The nurse thinks it's the flu and I don't need a transfusion. I want to lean towards her diagnosis. I can survive the flu.
It was asked what book I was reading... it's called Dead Sleep. I am on chapter 15 I think and so far I am hooked!
Not a Christian novel but a actual mystery, lol. Hopefully it holds to it's reputation so far. I have no clue who the murder is.
Morning... a quick blog from me today. I get to get squished and scanned today and we need to leave in a few minutes. Have to finagle transportation as my car DIED yesterday on my way home from another DR appt. Yeah it was a bummer, but in looking back now, there were some real blessings.
1- I had my cell phone (remember my son just got the I PHONE so he gave me mine back) 2- I got the car towed home and it only cost me $5.00 for gas 3- I remembered to bring my oxygen (I never do anymore) so the three hours I sat in the hot car I was able to have fresh oxygen 4- It died 4 miles from my house and not in the parking lot of the hospital 8 miles away. 5- I lost 13 pounds and because of that I was able to fit behind the wheel and drive my sisters car so her husband could drive my no power steering, power braked dead car while it was being towed.
Even in the bad GOD was watching out for me. Why should I ever worry?
Anyway let's get on to todays CONTEST stuff
TUESDAY is try something new day
Our NEW stitch today is called "THE DOUBLE SEED" stitch
Double Seed Stitch
Multiples of 4...
Rows 1 & 2...* K2, P2, repeat from * across
Rows 3 & 4...* P2, K2, repeat from * across
Repeat these 4 rows for pattern..
Bind off in pattern......
Here is the swatch I started last night before I went to bed, my camera skills are a little shaky but hopefully you can see the pattern, I like it.
Post in the comment section if you have tried this stitch, plan to try this stitch, hate this stitch whatever. Just a comment is all I am really looking for, and all you need to do to get another entry in this weeks contest.
Until tomorrow then... Have a great day and keep looking up for there IS always a rainbow after a storm, but if we aren't looking up we will miss the promise.
Adam doing his part to keep the light shining bright. Isa 60:1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
Yesterday I made a Mosaic of the things that are part of my life... have you made one yet? If not you might want to go back to Sunday's post and the instructions are there. It's actually pretty easy, if I can do it anyone can do it.
************************************************** Wow can you believe we have already had two weeks of contest already, and how exciting we still have seven more to go. I tell you these contest days really are fun for me, I will be lost when September comes and there isn't one... so which one of you are going to have a month long contest in September, lol?
OK first off let's reveal the winner of the small project bag offered as the prize last week from Bea's Etsy Store... The winner was.... ME ME ME... OK not really, but I wish it was. Actually I am a winner because I had several new people commenting and because of that I have several new blogs to check out every day. That really does make me a winner. But I digress.
Maybe I'll just start off with this weeks CONTEST prize and Monday's CONTEST assignment first.
NO SCROLLING down to see if you won, you must read everything in order, LOL
Monday's CONTEST Assignment...
Monday is Making Memories Day...
Basically that means what did you accomplish this past week? Did you try a new stitch? Did you attempt a new pattern? Did you try a new yarn? Did you finally finish that second sock? Whatever... Monday is your day to Talk, Brag, and Reflect.
Post in the comment section today and you will receive an entry towards week three's prize.
Wanna know what that is? I bet you do.
Week Three's CONTEST PRIZE will be 2 single Patterns of your choice from Harvest Moon
Sue has some really great patterns pictured there, I expect this will be a hard prize to choose from as well.
Ok NOW the winner of the small project bag from week two's entries. We had 86 comments plus the extras from those who also linked to my blog. And the winning comment belonged to comment number 25, which belonged to MARIA who commented on Tuesday's post. CONGRATULATIONS MARIA. I am so happy for you, my friend. The link to Bea's ETSY store is still in the sidebar, email me or PM me on Ravelry and I will make arrangements for Bea to send you the bag of your choice.
For those of you who didn't win, you can always do what I plan on doing and buying a bag straight out, LOL. Oh and Good News... there will be another bag offered sometime before this contest ends on August 31st. So make sure you come back every week.
I guess that's it for today. I am off to the Dr's. Have a wonderful day and don't forget to comment.
I realize my blog post on Saturday seemed a little overwhelming. I am not complaining. I know all these things are working together for the good. I am in the middle of a promise from God and that is a good thing.
I am sure most of you have seen this picture before, but what is extraordinary about it is all the hidden pictures in the picture itself. There is NOTHING that happens in our life that goes unnoticed by the Lord and NOTHING that He can't and won't deliver us through. Whatever our struggles, He will give us the strength to endure, and for those who endure, they will be SAVED. Mat 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Today I made it to church and the message today was spoken and delivered JUST for me. I sat there and knew I was going to be OK, I was going to be delivered and healed. I was going to endure. I am SAVED. I tell you if you are not hearing the WORD of God on a regular basis, you are really missing out.
*********************************
I also finally made the moasic thingy today. I have been wanting to ever since I have seen it passing around on the different blogs. Below is my final result. And seeing this through this new light too, I can see I am blessed. I have good things in my life now and more to follow. So much to be thankful for. Life is good. If you haven't made one yet and want to I posted the instructions below.

************************************
I still don't have a camera to share any projects yet, but will by next weekend. So hang in there they will be coming soon.
Today is a true rest day for me, I am watching one of my favorite movies, reading in my new mystery book, playing a little POGO and just believing, receiving and applying (remember that Shelly? The BRA message?) all I learned today.
Well if you guessed on her bed in the living room ... You'd be spot on. This has been a week and I should be glad it's over but this week coming doesn't look any less stressful.
I was poked and prodded three times last week, and had two exercise therapy sessions in the pool at the Y (that I must confess I loved except for one thing... TOM).
Next week I get the mammogram, and ECHO, two more therapy sessions and a visit to the dietitian. And that's only through Wednesday. Can we say stretched??? I feel like silly putty.
Adam was here Thursday, Friday and Saturday (today) I sent him home around 5PM. Hence the late blogging for me.
My pool got a hole in in after my husband drained it to clean out all the green stuff from me not being in there for almost 2 weeks because of the bladder infection. I think we successfully patched it up, only time will tell.
I have no pictures to share as my son Jim has the camera. Why? Well Friday he was one of those crazy people in line for the new I PHONE. He got it. Came home and couldn't activate it from home. Had to go back.
New IPHONE- $199.00 Gas to drive back and forth to Apple store- $9,000,000,000 Activation bug... PRICELESS
Me, I also need a new phone. Will it be an I PHONE, No way Jose. I will look for those free offers through My Points and hopefully something PINK in color. The reason I need a new phone?? Both my children have used mine one time or another when theirs was lost or damaged and they destroyed mine. Well no way will they want to borrow a PINK phone. That is also why my laptop is PINK. OK It makes me happy because I love PINK but still.
I have 3 swap packages to get out in the mail and one to start working on. I still haven't decided on everything to go in the "puffy's" and this has stressed me out. I have been knitting and felting and pattern searching like there is no tomorrow, cause there isn't, yikes.
I started a dishcloth in a great pattern and color and ran out of the yarn with 11 rows to go. Couldn't find the same color so had to tear it out and try another color. But in the meantime I lost the printed out pattern, yeah only happens to me. It's the Murphy in my maiden name.
I am also reading a new mystery book, I am in chapter 2 and so far I LOVE it. I still need to do my projects for the book I read last month, I have the patterns selected I just haven't started any of them yet.
I got to talk to CAT this week, what a pleasure. She was so awesome and sent me something to help me with a swap package (It arrived today Cat, thank you so much).
PLEASE remember to check out the other contests I have found... there are links and deadlines for the entry dates there. Some great prizes to be had, all you need to do is play.
I am up in the air on if I will be able to leave the house tomorrow for church. If not I will try to blog before the day is through. I hate these late evening posts. I like to do it first thing in the morning.
See everyone tomorrow, remember weekend comments count towards this weeks prize.
AK Ecc 3:1 To every [thing there is] a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
Ahh the comments yesterday for the captions, were great. I see Turtle's was the favorite. I liked them all, I always do. No worried though next Thursday it will be a GUESS picture not a caption. I think I am going to rotate them from week to week to shake things up a little.
But that's Thursdays news right? Today is FRIDAY
and
FRIDAY is FIND the FINISHED object day
I visited all the blogs from the comments yesterday and found a finished object on one of them and below is the partial picture on one of them.
I am not sure if you already do or not, but you really should. Visit the blogs of the people who comment here, there are some real treasures on there. One I thing I saw yesterday while looking I HAVE to make for my niece... can you guess what that is? It's not the picture below though. LOL. Hmm maybe there are two assignments today. No really just one.
Anyway take a minute if you can and check out the blogs. Who knows what new friends you might make along the way.
OK Here is the picture... now go Blog searching and come back here and post your guess in the comment section for your contest entry today.
If you don't have time to search, that's OK too. just remember to leave a comment if you want a contest entry. Only two more days before I announce the winner and they can go choose a small project bag from Bea's ETSY store. Have you ll been over there window shopping yet? If you are the winner have you already narrowed down your choice? It's not easy... I want them all, LOL
Oh also a reminder, I have a spot on my side bar where I list other contests going on, there are a few, some for prizes, one is for a $25.oo credit for Loopy Ewe... make sure you check them out. OK?
I'll be posting over the weekend, but as usual no contest assignments. Just stuff about me, lol and what I've been up to all week. However if you comment over the weekend you will continue to get a contest entry right through Sunday.
Monday I will announce the winner from this week, and reveal the prize for week three. Remember to come back and bring your friends.
Have a wonderful day. We can choose to make it a great day, so let's choose that. I am.
Can it be Thursday already. WOW!!! These weeks are flying by. I guess it's true times flies when you are swamped and need more, LOL.
Yes the answer to yesterdays Riddle was SWAP. But whether you guessed right or wrong if you commented you got your entry. Only a few more days and we will know who our small project bag winner is. I was thinking... I WANT THAT BAG... Maybe I should play my own contest to see if I win, yeah that would be fair. Oh well, it is what it is right?
THURSDAY IS CAPTION DAY...
Below you will see a knitting picture I came across, and I thought you might have some fun trying to come up with a Caption for this picture. Funny, serious, strange, whatever pops into your mind. I always enjoy all the different ideas everyone has when we do this activity. I tried to add the link to the photo to where I found it when googling, hopefully I did it right. If not I'll post the site address under the photo.
Post your CAPTION in the comment section today and receive another entry for this weeks contest. If you can't think of anything, no problem... enjoy the picture and everyone else's comments and just comment on whatever you like, OK?
Reminder... tomorrow is Friends Finished Project day so I will be choosing a partial picture from someones blog who has commented today for you to find.
That's about it for me, I have a zillion things to get sorted for the SWAPS I joined. I am the queen of last minute planning. When will I ever learn?
See you tomorrow...
AK Remember... In order to realize the worth of the anchor, we need to feel the stress of the storm.
Seems like these days everyone talks in riddles, lol. So why not me? Oh wait it is usually me talking in the riddles anyway isn't it? I can't help it when I was born I think I cried in RHYME. And ever since I can remember I have written at least one poem a day. Now if they were any good...
Anyway... On to CONTEST Assignment for today
WEDNESDAY is RIDDLE Day
I woke up this morning and thought to myself What can I work on, what's on my craft shelf? Then to my dismay I saw too much there I need to get started, but oh my where?? The half finished ideas and patterns too I have too much to do, how about you? Mostly I've overextended myself once again I love to make things for new and old friends So these projects must move up to the top Because the deadline is here for the next ????
Can you guess what this riddle is about? If you can, post your answer in the Comments section. A comment will get you an entry for today towards this weeks contest prize. Remember you don't have to be correct you just have to comment, OK? So don't skip it just because you aren't sure of the answer.
We have had more comments per day this week then ever before. This makes me very happy. And I wanted to send out a HUGE thank you to all who have linked this contest on their blogs. It means so much to me that you took the extra steps to do that and I KNOW it's because of you that I am getting more people playing. I wish you ALL could win a prize every week. And if I ever win a LOTTO or something you can be sure I'll be remembering you all.
I have a big day ahead, but I'll tell you all about my week over the weekend.
Ahhh yes we all know what Tuesday is around here...
Time to broaden our horizons, learn something new, step out of our comfort zones, am I scaring you? No worries...
TUESDAY is TRY SOMETHING NEW DAY
Now so far I have only shown new knitting stitches but today I think I will present a crochet stitch pattern for those who don't knit or for those who do both. So here it is...
FANFARE
(ch a multiple of 6 sts + 4) * For my sample swatch I chained 40)
Row 1 Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in next 2 ch, *ch 3, skip 3 ch, 1 sc in next 3 ch; rep from * across. Turn.
Row 2 Ch 1, 1 sc in first 2 sc, *skip 1 sc, 5 dc in ch-3 sp, skip 1 sc, 1 sc in next sc; rep from * end 1 sc in last sc. Turn.
Row 3 Ch 4 (counts as 1 sc and ch 3), skip (2 sc, 1 dc), 1 sc in next 3 dc, *ch 3, skip (1 dc, 1 sc, 1 dc), 1 sc in next 3 dc; rep from * to last 4 sts, end ch 3, skip (1 dc, 1 sc), 1 sc in last sc. Turn.
Row 4 Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 3 dc in first ch-3 sp, *skip 1 sc, 1 sc in next sc, skip 1 sc, 5 dc in ch-3 sp; rep from *, end last rep 4 dc in last ch-3 sp. Turn.
Row 5 Ch 1, 1 sc in first 3 dc, *ch 3, skip (1 dc, 1 sc, 1 dc), 1 sc in next 3 dc; rep from * across. Turn. Rep rows 2–5.
So there you go... I think it is a pretty stitch, would make a nice square for a charity afghan
Now to get your entry today for the contest post in the comment section if you tried this stitch, if you plan on trying sometime in the near future or if you already know this stitch tell us how you like it and what you made using it. If you are a knitter only, you're out of luck. NO NO just kidding. If you don't crochet, no problem just say so, and as long as it is in the comment section today it counts for an entry.
Around here the rules are easy, just leave a comment, it really doesn't matter what your comment says, lol.
Don't forget to send your friends over and if they say you sent them you do get an extra entry in this weeks contest. I am seeing some real excitement over the small project bags and I am not surprised. They are wonderful. Bea has a great talent.
Have a wonderful day everyone, get out that scrap yarn and crochet hook if you can. Play some inspirational music in the background and just let God's peace flow over you. Nothing beats that, NOTHING.
Welcome to week 2 of 9 Contest weeks. If you are a regular then you know what's in store and if you are a first time visitor, Welcome and join right in, I try to make the contest fun, and easy and hopefully rewarding enough that you come back and bring your friends too.
We had an awesome turn out last week a total of 77 comments were made. Using the random generator program comment # 36 is the winner of week one's contest. Congratulations going out to Melanie I will be mailing out your prize this week. Please email me or PM through Ravelry with your mailing address ok? Thank you for playing and remember you can win back to back weeks so keep on playing.
This week I have teamed up with Bea and the prize will be your choice of one of her small project bags from her Etsy shop. I have to admit I want one of each, I love them all. She sells them pretty quickly and adds new ones regularly so make sure you visit there all week so if you win you are ready to make your choice. Believe me it's going to be hard to choose. I copied this picture from her blog to give you a hint of what's there, this particular bag may not be available anymore.
Now onto todays CONTEST assignment... MONDAY is MEMORY dayYesterday I filled you all in on what I had been up to all week, so today you get to do the same. Tell us about a project you are working on, or some things you finished this week? Did you try something new this week, what was it? I want to hear all about it.So simply go to the comment section and confess. LOL. Of course nothing around here is mandatory so if all you want to do is say hello, tell a joke or whatever, it still counts. All you have to do is comment to get an entry.
Remember to link my contest on your blog and send your friends, it gets you another entry and believe me with these prizes you are going to want as many entries as you can get. Right?
Well yesterday was not a good day TOM wise. I was pretty sure there would be no way I could go to church today. I already missed Wednesday because of the UTI so I wasn't happy at all. But my son Jim who comes to church with me had to work so I would have to drive myself. Not a good idea. So I woke up and was going to call the pastor to let him know I wouldn't be there but felt led to open my email first. Why?
Because God had something to say to me. You know God speaks to us in many different ways. Probably because we would learn to tune Him out like we can a barking dog or whining child if it was always the same. God is always the same but they way's He speaks to us is ever changing. Anyway I digress... The first email I saw was from some thing I signed up for daily inspiration years ago. After the 1st year I stopped reading them, I didn't like the new agey direction they were going in. But I never canceled the subscription. Now I know why... the subject line (the only part of this email I ever even glance at) said "Skipping Church?"
Yeah I read that and bells and horns and sirens went off in my head. I did not call the pastor, and I drove myself to church. I was glad I did. Worship was refreshing and healing. The Word was encouraging and it was Communion Sunday too. The Word was on OBEDIENCE (the dreaded O word) and well could it really have been about anything else?
I have been working on a few other projects this week, this is a KAL form one of my Yahoo groups The Gathering Room... this was the progress after three days, I don't have a newer picture yet.
And these are the sock blockers I have been meaning to make for months now. I saw the idea on Debs blog ages ago and well finally decided to make a quick set. I LOVE them, and wow so easy. I think the link to the tutorial is Super East Sock Blockers DIY
Aren't they the neatest things? These are for a small adult or large child size and I was actually able to get 2 sets off of one place mat. I am sure the larger adult size will only get one set and maybe 1 foot off a sheet, I have 4 sheets left so I will be playing around with the sizes.
I also wrote and test knitted a pattern for my mystery knitting group WhoDuKnit and will be hosting my first KAL ever over there this month. I also have a few projects to work on based on the PD James book I read last month. We also started reading a new book for July. I haven't even started mine yet, maybe tonight. Gotta love summer and the fact that there is nothing to watch on TV, LOL.
Oh and the Ravelrympics... haven't decided if I am going to attempt that one, really I am not in that good of shape, lol.
Wow am I a little LINKY today? Maybe I better get off of here before I think of more.
I will be announcing the winner from last weeks contest tomorrow morning and announcing a first ever prize offered on one of my blog contests, I know you will all want this one, so make sure you come back all next week.
Have a wonderful rest of the day, and remember God is always talking, listen to what He has to say, you will not be disappointed.
Ahh it's summer... time for picnics, fireworks, swimming, vacations, ants and WATERMELON
Yes this is one of the projects I was working on this week. I found the pattern on Ravelry but it was for a fiber filled 3D watermelon. I tried making that exact pattern but I didn't like how mine came out. So I changed it up a little, I omitted the sides and made two panels and sewed them together to make a double sided dishcloth. I used 100% cotton except the seeds are just black acrylic. I couldn't find my black cotton. My son, the artist, of course told me I should have put in white seeds too as not all watermelon seeds are black. I said Blah Blah Blah. Anyway I really like how it turned out, it's kind of like a tawashi. I will make more of these. I might even try for other melons, like Honeydew and Cantaloupe, who knows maybe a whole bowl of fruit. LOL
I took Adam to the Hudson River yesterday to watch his Papa fishing. It was not a planned visit so no pictures. MENTAL note... keep camera in bag at all times for photo opt's. Adam loves the water. He took the opportunity to walk out on the huge rocks and stand and throw smaller stones into the water. The other men fishing didn't seem to mind that Adam was scaring the fish away. All the boulders they were standing on would later be covered completely with water when the tide came in. It's quite amazing to imagine the water would get that high and not flood the houses near by. I wish i could show you the pictures. I never go down there, but there is a nice bench to sit on and I am thinking I might go down again with some knitting and spend an afternoon watching the boats go by. One boat went by yesterday while Adam was there, he waved frantically to them, I wonder if they saw him. It was so cute.
I am still dealing with the UTI and TOM (they don't sound so bad when they are in initials do they?) Kind of had me a little down but that just means it can only get better from here. I am on an antibiotic so it shouldn't be much longer. My blood work, well that's another story. Seems whenever I start losing weight my kidneys and liver panic and the numbers come back very high. But I will NOT QUIT. I am going to lose this weight and get healthy if it kills me. Yikes.
I added a button to put on your blog to link people to the contest if you'd like to. Melanie made it for me last year and I almost forgot about it until someone asked me if I had one. I think all you have to do is copy it, add it as a picture on your sidebar and put the link to my blog in there and it's done. No requirement, but it's there if you want one.
I also want to thank everyone for mentioning the contest, I am seeing some new faces and hope to see many more as these two months pass.
Ok I guess I am off to work on another project. Maybe I'll have some more pictures to share tomorrow.
Oh and remember all weekend comments count towards contest entries as well. Have a great day, and I'll catch you tomorrow.
Happy Fourth of July... It's funny how I don't see myself any more patriotic or thankful for the freedom we have in America today than on any other day. Every morning when I wake and night when I go to bed I thank God for all who have gone before me, who are serving now and who will in times after I have gone. Those who fight for peace and for freedom, and by fighting I don't just mean in a war. Anyone who stands up for what is right, in what ever circumstance. This is what makes us Americans and this is what makes us FREE.
********************* CONTEST STUFF
Yes the answer to my riddle yesterday was STASH.
FRIDAY IS FIND THE MYSTERY PICTURE DAY
Today's assignment is simple. Just take a peek at the blogs from my friends who commented yesterday... I will show you a partial picture of a project I saw on one of them. Just leave a comment on who's blog it came from. If you don't have time to look, holiday commitments etc. No Worries... just say hello it still counts as an entry, OK?
Today is the last assignment day... Saturday and Sunday I will just be blogging about whatever. But should you still want to come and read and feel like leaving a comment I will count those as contest entries as well.
You never know I may have some new pictures of Adam, and some of the projects I have been working on this week. A cartoon or a joke, you just never know.
Monday morning I will do a random number search and find the winner for this weeks contest. So at least come back Monday to see if you've won.
I have some new prizes lined up and I know (hope) you will all love them.
OK I am off to do something... what? Not sure, but I do KNOW the options are endless as I live in the land of the free, right?
Not sure if you noticed this over to the right in my side bar but it's for an online yarn shop. If you click on the picture over in the side bar it will bring you right to the shop. And I will get some credit for that which will lead to free yarn. Yeah I am all about free stuff. Plus there is kind of a race to see who gets the most yardage or something like that, I just started yesterday so I'm a little new at it all. But the bottom line is if you click on the link I get credited, and if you buy something I get credited more. And you can always sign up too and join the race with me, LOL
The answer to yesterday's guess picture was 33 full and/or partially used cones of cotton. Yes I was drooling over all that cotton too. I just have an assortment of balls, but to have cones in all those colors, well that would be a dream.
Thanks again Wendy for sharing one of your stash photos with us.
Onto Contest Today's Contest Assignment
Thursday is RIDDLE day
Well in my perfect world there would be
A reason for all of us to meet you see
We could gather together and have fun
Looking at yarns that from wool were spun
We don't need Pampered Chef or Tupperware
Of things like that we have no need or care
No for us to enjoy our get together bash
All we need to do is bring our ???????
Post your answer to my riddle in the comment section and receive another entry in this weeks contest. Remember you don't have to have a correct guess to get entered you just need to comment.
Tomorrow will be FIND the blogger who posted this MYSTERY picture. I will choose something from someone who comments today to make it a little easier for everyone to find, OK?
I know tomorrow is a holiday but I will still blog, I hope you get a chance to check in.
Yeah I have thought about doing Wordless Wednesday but golly I always have something to say. Maybe one day I'll figure out how to say it all with just a picture, but so far not yet.
During contest time though I hope to minimize my personal stuff during the week and then catch you all up over the weekends.
Yesterday we tried a new stitch. I was pleased to see so many of you tired it. I used some white acrylic I happened to have near me for my swatch, the picture isn't the greatest but here is how it came out.
I think it would make a pretty strong dishcloth, but I would definitely have a border on the sides to help it maintain it's shape better. It was fairly easy and worked up quick. I casted on 15 stitches for my swatch.
Today's Contest Assignment: WEDNESDAY IS GUESS DAY
Below is a picture of a stash of Cotton yarn, some new some used, your assignment is to guess how many different balls or cones of cotton are shown in this picture. Post your guess in the comment section to receive an entry today in this weeks contest. PLEASE don't be afraid to guess, right or wrong you still get an entry, OK?
Thank you Wendy for sharing your stash pictures with me and if anyone else has some unusual pictures to use for future Wednesday guess days please feel free to email them to me. I can use them all, anything knitting/craft related.
Well that's about it for me today. Don't forget to send your friends over as well. The more people that come to play the better.
Have a wonderful day, knit something that makes you happy, I plan on it.
Ok I have added the rules to the contest in the side bar. Nothing too hard, I like to KISS (keep it simple ...) I am looking forward to two months of contest stuff. Hopefully I can keep it all fresh for everyone.
As usual I was indecisive as to what the prize would be this week and after several hours just this morning I decided on 2 balls of cotton yarn, enough to make two dishcloths. I thought the yellows would be a perfect color for a "sunny" summer contest kick off. TUESDAY'S CONTEST ASSIGNMENT-
Tuesday is try a new stitch day. I am starting to find this assignment one of my favorites. I am all about learning new stuff. You don't need to create a whole dishcloth or anything unless you want to, just a swatch to see what the stitch looks like, if you like how it works up and then have for a reference for future projects. I will be trying this out right along with you and will post my swatch tomorrow.
NEW STITCH- GARTER STITCH EYELET LACE
Works on an odd number of stitches. (ie: cast on 35)
Rows one through four: Knit.
Row Five: (Knit two together, yarn over), repeat to last stitch and knit the last stitch
Repeat five rows until desired size ending on row 4
Tell us how you like this stitch pattern, share what color you decided to test it out in, perhaps you are already familiar with it what have you made using this stitch technique? Whatever, just leave a comment today for your entry. Even if you don't have time to try any comments counts. OK?
Okay then looks like we are off and running. I hope you are all excited, I sure am.
