April Fools and the Jokes On ME

Well I almost thought I was NOT going to be able to blog today. I was sitting here at the desk and suddenly all images on my desk rotated to the right. Yes it was as if someone took my monitor and tipped it over on it's side. Look at these pictures... now this is a cruel April's Fools joke. If I tried to move my mouse to the left I had to move it up instead and to the right I had to move it down. I was freaking out. Shelly was on the phone with my and I took advantage of her IT guy (aka husband) and he walked me through a couple restarting things and finally it is back to normal.

I finished the Smokey the Bear cloth, had some issues trying to get a good picture... but this is the best I could do. It says Only You Can Prevent Forrest Fires. This was a graph that Dani made and I just wrote it up and test knitted it for her. I believe it's to be a square in a retirement blanket. I'll be mailing this out to her right away as she needs it by Saturday.

Adam called me today, he just wanted to talk and he talked for about 20 minutes. He was so cute. I said where are you and he said I am right here Nana. He still thinks I can see him through the phone.

I did not get to the prize for the people who linked, I was so busy with the Smokey cloth, which by the way I had to tear out 4 times before I got it right. Hopefully I can decide on something today.

I am a little weirded out from this computer thing so I am going to call it a night.

Monday's Blessings

I was just about to shut down the computer and hop in bed when I realized it was almost midnight and I haven't even blogged yet.

Gosh am I tired, I even fell asleep for the last 30 laps of the race. Gary had to work at the arena tonight, it was Star on Ice... he said there were a lot of OLD people there and I would have loved it. Hmm was that his round about way of telling me I am old???

I have been working on writing up a pattern for someone, she actually did the graph but I wrote it up and am now test knitting it. It's taking much longer then I hoped and she needs it before Saturday. I tried all afternoon, but it kept making me sleepy. What am I gonna do? I guess I;ll just wait until tomorrow morning and hope I am more energetic.

You know of all the pictures I took this weekend I didn't get a single one with me and Katie... and I don't think she got any of me either, but she did get several of Adam. He is so addicting, and I am not saying that just because I am his Nana either. He is so cute and fun until he gets tired and cranky.

My nose is still bothering me and I think I might actually call the ENT Dr in the morning. Wait who just said that, who is this impostor and what have you done with the real AK?

I can't believe the contest is over already. It's pathetic really... I miss it when it ends, and I am overwhelmed when I first start it up... I am just never at a happy medium anymore. I will take the month of April to rest and plan for May.

As for the winner of the linkers... I will do that tomorrow. i still need to decide on the special gift for that person. But I promise to have it worked out by Tuesday, no fooling. LOL

Ok that said I am going to head off to bed. See you all in the morning.

Sunday... and we have a WINNER

Well I couldn't wait to get here and blog. So much to say about this weekend. Katie has been here and gone and life is getting back to normal, if that is even a word to describe my life, lol.

I hope she had a good time, even though I practically starved her and Adam tried to wake her up at 7am by playing rooster sounds. I am just about old enough to be her mother, but we still got along great. She's wonderful. Keep your eyes out you never know if she will be flying into your town next. LOL

Here are a couple pictures I took today.

Adam modeling the Checkerboard section of the next VJG afghan, but wait who's that smiling face in the background in her jammies???
Nana!!! Help me!!! Yes even in this torture he still had time to wave to the camera. LOL

Katie, Hanna and Adam all admiring the finished projects on Ravelry.

Katie O on the left and my sister Dayna on the right, this is right after we had a wonderful lunch at a local diner.

And of course Hannah had to also have a picture with just her and Katie. Both the kids too a liking to her right away. It was wonderful. I told her she should fly out here every couple of months just for a play date.

Before lunch we went to AC Moore and did a little craft shopping and after lunch we went back home and had a little craft party. We all made some animals. I made this fish, Katie made a turtle which I am sure she will blog, and Hannah made a horse.

Funny thing about Hannah's horse. She had maybe 1/3 of the plastic beads arranged on the grid and then decided to go to church with her sister, afraid her cats would knock her beads off we covered it with a lid from the bowl of beads. Perfect solution until Dayna decided to clean the beads on the table and pushed the lid out of the way and totally ruined Hannah's hard work, well we had to keep this a secret from Hannah, we were laughing so hard. You should have seen the face of horror Dayna had when she saw what she had done. So they all left and Katie and I tried to re-create the work so Hannah wouldn't notice. We only had like 5 minutes cause we had to get to the airport, so it was crazy, and we were laughing so it was hard to get those tiny beads on the grid. If I had the time and energy I'd go into more detail but it was a good time.

CONTEST STUFF:

I did a random number drawing for last weeks contest winner, we had 42 posts over the 5 days and #29 was the winner... and guess who that was??? SHELLY!!! Finally after all these months of contests she finally won one. Congrats Shelly and I will be sending the needles to you hopefully Monday.

Now Monday I will do a special drawing for the friends who linked my contest from their blogs, so you'll see that tomorrow I think.

OK I guess that's about it for now, I am a little tired. Walking around AC Moore etc. took a lot out of me. And it's church tomorrow so I better get some beauty sleep.

Have a wonderful day,
AK

PS Goodnight Katie, hope you have a comfy bed tonight and not a yucky couch. LOL

Saturday's Super dooper report

Well it's not exactly Saturday yet but it will be by the time most of you read this.

I have two house guests can you guess who they are by their luggage?
Guest #1

Guest#2

Okay, I'll tell, LOL

Guest number 1 is Adam of course. He arrived after pre-school, all excited. He and his daddy made a miniature snowman in the front yard, I hope to get a picture of it tomorrow maybe with both guests standing or well squatting beside it. I think it's only 4" tall. LOL

Guest number 2 is Katie O, yep our very own pilot. How exciting. OK I am probably old enough to be her mother but she is wonderful. I haven't seen too much of her yet as after she arrived she and my husband left on a date. Ok not exactly a date but she went to the hockey game and my husband went to do security there so they just rode in together and home together.

We brought Adam with us on the drive to the airport, he was thrilled to see the airplanes, if you could only hear his excitement. We also saw a train, a boat and a big truck, it was a little boys dream trip.

You guys have to see him, he now sleeps with a yarn ball, last week it was a green one, this week it's a red one. He snuggles right up with it like it is a stuffed animal or something. It cracks me up since he NEVER not even as a baby wanted anything to do with stuffed animals.

Looks like Katie's team lost so she will go home tomorrow night around 6pm, but hopefully we can make a trip to AC Moore's and play at least one game of Mexican Dominoes with my family.

CONTEST STUFF:

Yes the mystery picture was from Melanie's Blog...

I will do the drawing sometime this weekend for this weeks winner and let you all know by Monday.

Also on Monday I will be doing a special drawing for all those blogs that linked my contest, not sire what that prize will be but it will be good.

I guess that's about it for now... More tomorrow and maybe even some pictures of the guests and not just of their luggage. LOL

Friday is for Friends, Mystery Friends that is

Well today my Mystery friend is possibly arriving. Although my house is still not presentable I have decided not to stress about it, and have sworn this person to absolute secrecy regarding it's condition. LOL.

Looks like we are going to get some snow Friday as well. Maybe 3 to 6 inches, but who really knows? Certainly not the weatherman.

Adam will be here as well, he gets off the school bus around 11:30. I am looking forward to seeing him, I like that we are on a schedule and it's two days a week now not 4 or 5, but I sure do miss him when he's not here.

CONTEST STUFF:

Well it's the last day to get an entry for the March contest. Yep it's almost over, scary huh? The months sure fly by when we are having a contest.

Anyway, as usual Friday is Mystery picture day, below is a cropped photo of a project posted on the blog of one of my commenter's. You just need to find the blog it came from and post your answer in the comments section. Easy smeasy, right?

Not much else is new here... thanks for all the well wishes I am sure I will be better any day. In fact I am not as sick as I was, just the nose thing lingering now.

Well I am heading to bed early tonight, I expect an long weekend and with Adam and a guest a busy one too. But I am excited.

Have a wonderful Friday everyone and thank you all for playing in my contest this month, it really brightened up my days.

Caption Thursday

Well don't send out the cavalry... I did NOT call the DR. I was going to, but I got side tracked knitting squares. I think I'll wait until Monday, maybe it will be gone by then, right?

I had to take a couple showers today, not my favorite exercise routine, but unavoidable. TOM is the pits for sure. I even had to miss church tonight and that does not make me happy at all. Anyway my hair is awful. Very long, thick and frizzy. it's been 2 years since my last hair cut. So after my last shower I decided to braid it into two braids to hopefully keep it from frizzing out.

My son Jim came home from school and asked me when I had gone to "Little House on the Prairie" mode? I look like Laura Ingalls or an Indian squaw. But the funny part is Jim shaved his head into a Mohawk and has it spiked up so he and I kind of matched, but he wouldn't let me take a picture, oh well, I am sure you can picture it.

CONTEST STUFF:

The answer to my riddle was Tawashi, but hey a Scrubbie fits too doesn't it.

Today is CAPTION picture day... so take a look at the picture below and post in the comment section what you think might speak for the picture, what is it saying to you???

Your comment will get you another entry into this weeks contest.

Wow I just had something really interesting to say and I totally lost the thought. I guess I'll end it here then and head off to bed.

See everyone tomorrow.

Wednesday, It's Rhyme time

I know this is a Christmas picture but it involved a knitted sock so I saved it anyway. LOL Visit this site for more cartoons with a message.

This will be a fairly short blog post today. I really am still tired.

My set of Knit Picks interchangeable needles came today. I shouldn't have spent the money but sometimes you just need to splurge. I LOVE them, I already knitted a square, well really a rectangle with them and they are wonderful.

CONTEST STUFF:

There were 21 pairs of needles in the case so a total of 42 needles. You all were pretty close and I remember at least one got it right on.

Today's contest will be another RIDDLE, aren't you all thrilled???

I am a fun thing to make I am sure you'll agree
I love bright colors, they make me all I can be
I'm small but useful and think you should have at least three
And leave them around so everyone can see
A cheerful sponge like project, yep that's me
Can you guess my name, Of course I am a ???

Post your answer in the comment section to get yet another entry into this weeks contest. Remember it doesn't have to be correct to get the entry you just have to comment, ok?

Hard to believe this week is almost over already, just two more days after this. What oh what will I do with myself in April? Hmmm maybe I can finally work on some of those patterns I have been wanting to design, or maybe even do a KAL for a change.

No pictures to post today, I really didn't do much to show anyone.

I have updated the contests section on the side bar and added a few more you might want to visit.

Tuesday's here, where did Monday go?

Well Monday was a day, it's Tuesday already and my head is still spinning around.

I spent the afternoon cleaning the piles of yarn left overs all around the shelves on my bed. I have a problem... I can't seem to separate myself from the yarn. I have a HUGE plastic zippered bag full of cotton, and several grocery store bags full of acrylic all around my bed, plus a duffel bag full of sock yarn too. I know I should put all the yarn in a closet or something and just have the one skein I am working with, but I can't. What if I need purple or green and all I have out is blue and white? What if I suddenly have an urge to make a dishcloth and all I have out is acrylic? You see the dilemma? What's a yarn addict to do?

CONTEST STUFF:
Today I took a picture of the lovely needle holder Maria made for me when I was in the Cocoa swap, your assignment is to guess how many needles I have stored in this holder. The only hint I will give is these are all straight needles, no circulars and no double points, they are in a different container (also around my bed area... cause what if I need a different needle...lol)

Anyway, post your guess in the comment section and receive an entry in this weeks contest.

Another view

Not too much else is going on here, I need to work on some knitted squares for the next VJG vision I have, but I want to try to clean up around here first. Just in case I have a visitor at the end of the week. {{{are you curious??? well I'm not telling until I know for sure}}}

I spoke to MaryAnn on the phone today, that was nice. I have really made some great friends through this blogging venue and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Someday wouldn't it be great if we all got to meet?

I am off to bed now... praying I can sleep tonight, I really need it.

HE IS RISEN... Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone. This is one holiday we can confidently celebrate everyday. Jesus is ALIVE everyday, and that's worth remembering.

Adam has gone home but while he was here we had some fun. We went next door to my sisters to color some eggs with Hannah and Destiny. There were only 11 eggs, actually 10 because Adam dropped one back into the bowl pretty hard and it cracked a lot, lol.
My sister Dayna accidentally put the vinegar in all the colors so we had no red or purple, but the kids didn't seem to mind. here are a couple pictures.

This one is in black and white, why, you ask? Well it had some serious red eye going on and I could only get the red out of the left eye, the right eye was still bright red, he looked spooky, lol. So I made it black and white and hey, you'd never know the eyes are red.

This is the whole group... Destiny is the brunette on the left, Hannah is the blond in the middle and Adam is the boy on the right. LOL Like you couldn't tell.

Check out this face... it's saying I can't believe you made me wear these ears, and took a picture and you are going to blog this for the universe to see. gee thanks Adam for the compliment that the whole Universe is interested in my silly old blog.

Here are the eggs after drying. Adam has a thing these days about smiley faces, aren't they cute?

I have made 4 of those Citrus Wedges and I LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I forgot to take their pictures so I will post them tomorrow.

I am sewing the panels together for blanket number 4 and should start number 5 sometime tomorrow.

Adam was so cute, he made me make him a green ball of yarn, he carried that around for 2 days and even brought it home with him. He even slept with it, LOL

I guess that's most of the updates from my end. Time to get some beauty sleep before church in the morning.

I'll post the winner of last weeks contest when I post again for Monday.

Saturday's Scoop

Hmmm let's see...

First I added another contest to my sidebar... Chan is having her 1 year blogaversary so make sure to go check it out. And some of the others are ending soon so if you haven't checked them out maybe you will get a chance this weekend.

Adam had a dentist appointment today. He came over afterwards. He was surprisingly in a really good mood. Maybe he missed me I know I sure missed him. He was so talkative and interacting with his NOGGIN shows, it was fun to watch.

He was hungry too and for once I didn't have to order a pizza. Good for me, I am always tempted by the cold pizza the next day. He ate a hot dog, no bun, and two bowlfuls of Strawberries and Cantaloupe. He was so funny, he said I want watermelon, I said I didn't have watermelon but I had orange melon, he said OK, and loved it. I also made him an ice cream cone with some sherbet in it, he liked that too.

Later he wanted to play on the computer so I signed onto NOGGIN.com and got him started, well he just navigated all around there and changed from Obie to Blue to Dora etc. He found the games he wanted and then started them up. When did he learn that? I feel like it was just yesterday when he didn't even know how to use the mouse at all. I think he must be a genius. LOL

I ordered a pattern from Etsy that was designed by Rhonda White, she has a zillion free patterns that I LOVE and have made several of including the wrapper envelope dishcloth, one of my personal favorites. Anyway her free patterns can be found here and the link to her Etsy store is here.

I had to knit this up right away, but I had to finish it in the dark as Adam fell asleep and the light was in his eyes, LOL. So it has several flaws but I am sure if I wasn't trying to knit and hold a flashlight under my chin it would be fine. LOL

CONTEST STUFF:
Yes the hat was from KTO's blog, you never know who's blog I will use next time so get those finished projects posted.

I'll be announcing the winner hopefully tomorrow but if we end up going to my sisters for Easter it might just be on Monday.

Adams other Grandma is in the hospital again. She was fine when she dropped off Adam this afternoon, but apparently she took too many pain pills later on and overdosed. They are not sure if it was intentional. It's so sad, I am just praying that God will heal her heart, mind and body.

Praying that you all stay healthy too, no more sicknesses for any of us. We are all done with that, right?

It's getting late and I better head off to bed.

Day Five, last chance for this weeks prize

Thank God For Fridays, right? Well I love them because I get Adam and I am really looking forward to it this week.

We made him a little Easter basket, the basket is a soft squishy car and if you squeeze it it makes an engine sound. We filled it with bubbles, matchbox cars with Diego, Dora, Blue and the Backyardigans on them, a Nerf football, some purple peeps and Tootsie Roll pops. I think he will like it. Here's a picture of it.

I finished the third VJG blanket... this was the wildest array of colors and all the squares were done in the grandmothers favorite pattern. I love how it turned out, it's CRAZY, LOL.

CONTEST STUFF FOR FRIDAY:

I loved the captions you all had for the knitting football player. They made me laugh out loud several times.

Today is find the MYSTERY picture, it's a project completed on one of the blogs from someone who posted a comment this week. If you haven't been visiting the blogs of the people who comment here, now is your chance. You never know what treasure you might find.

Just a warning, there was a comment earlier that I think was a spam thing, it wanted you to click on a link, I deleted it. Please don't click on any links unless you know the sender ok? I would hate to think someone got a virus or something from a comment on this blog.

Okay that said here is the featured Mystery photo...

Post in the comment section what blog you think this came from and earn the last entry in this weeks contest.

I will draw the winner sometime over the weekend and post the winner either Sunday or Monday when I blog.

I baked a ham today and I have to say it was delicious. It pratically fell off the bone and I am so glad I was able to actually enjoy it. After a week of nothing but toast it was like a feast.

Well it's very late and with Adam coming tomorrow I really need to get some sleep. I only slept about 4 hours last night, I was having trouble breathing. Still a little stuffed up I guess.

Have a wonderful day everyone and don't forget to window shop at Harvest Moon just in case you are the winner this week.

Day Four, What are you thinking?

Hello,

I was out looking for a caption picture for today contest assignment, and Shelly found this cartoon and I just wanted to share it with you all, it's not part of the contest but is definitely a smile getter.

See more of his comics at Close to Home

Now for the real contest cartoon... Take a look at this strapping fellow and see if you can think of a great caption for it.
Post your thoughts in the comment section and get another entry into this weeks contest. No answer is a wrong or right answer, so have fun with this. Thursday is a day for laughter.

Well I finished afghan number two for VJG and I will have another one done tomorrow as well. I am really excited at how fast these are going together. I wish I could get better pictures of them, just no other place except this silly "thinking chair" to fit them on for a picture. All the squares in this picture were done in the simple square pattern with several different color patterns, it's bright and cheery, don't you think?

Nothing really is new around here, just squares and more squares. I am starting to feel like sponge bob lol.

Adam comes on Friday and I am looking forward to it. He always brings a smile.

Oh I found a local knitter in my home town here in NY on Ravelry today. I am excited. her kids and my kids are around the same age and her husband did little league, I bet we have met several times over the years. She told me of a LYS about 7 miles from my house where knitters meet up on Friday nights and they have classes there too. I am hoping to make that a regular stop this Spring and Summer. I am so excited.

See Thursday is a day full of Laughter, Smiles and Joy, and who can complain about that, right?

Day Three, Riddle Fiddle

Well this week is sure flying by.

I actually did some things today that a living person would do. I out away clean dishes, washed all the dirty dishes, and for those who know me well you know how many dishes that is, I even scrubbed the table, counters and stove top including the burners. I cooked dinner, meatloaf, baked potato and mixed veggies, then washed the dinner dishes too. I sewed together an afghan just need to finish the border, and I climbed the stairs so I could watch Biggest Loser on TV tonight.

Tomorrow I will either be one of two things...

100% well

or dead

Just a reminder I have added a few new links to other contests in ym side bar, make sure you check them out, there are some good prizes to be won out there, and it might as well be won by one of us, right?

Today is church night. I just realised I am a little behind on my daily Bible reading too, being sick I haven't done much reading so I hope to catch myself up today.

I'll have pictures of the newest afghan tomorrow as well.

CONTEST STUFF-

There were in the jar 76 YoYo's. I have a few more to add after today but they don't count since they wern't in the picture.

Today's contest of course will be a simple riddle. All you need to do is post your guess to get an entry in for this weeks contest prize.

Hey diddle diddle here's another riddle
I know you were waiting for this
If I could I'd play it with my fiddle
That's something you'd not want to miss
Speaking of missing things here's the clue
It's something that all of us surely can do
It's fun and rewarding one's not like the rest
Guess what I am and you'll win me. I'm a blog .... ??

I am feeling like my blog is a little dull these days, but I hope you don't mind I am just not feeling very creative with this flu thing.

How is this time change effecting everyone? Always seems to make me feel a little out of sorts and then I remember God is my light.

Day Two- Guess what today is?

Hi,

You know I just realised I goofed up my contest sequence this week, LOL. Day One is usually a guess picture and Day Two is the question/poll. Oops. See I really am sick. LOL

But it all works out right? It's that perfectionist attitude I need to let die down.

Been working on squares still between naps and I am ready to sew together two more blankets tomorrow. That makes three completed so far. I am excited to see this all finally coming together.

I'm still not 100% but other then a bothersome cough and being very tired I am feeling a little better. I didn't go to my sisters to eat though, but they did send me home a plate so it all worked out.

OK onto CONTEST stuff...

Below are two different photos of the same group of YoYo's I have made. I sew these together into afghans when I have enough of them. I have been making them out of the scraps of yarn left over from the squares I have been making. Can you guess how many YoYo's I have made up to date?

Post your answer in the comments section and receive another entry into this weeks contest.

Tomorrow I hope to get to everyone's blogs and catch up on the past week.

Praying for all those who like me have been sick. This is no fun.

See everyone tomorrow.

Well I fell asleep and just woke up and realized I haven't blogged. So I got a drink of water and stopped here to just check in.

Not much is new here, Adam has gone home, I am still sick.

Worked on a couple more squares.

Church in the morning, hope I am feeling up to it.

Haven't been on line hardly at all today, I tried to look at all your blogs but that's about as far as I got.

Wouldn't wish this flu on anyone, what a bummer it is.

OK back to bed for me...

Checking in from the sick ward

Wow, each day I expect to feel better and I feel worse. Maryann I am sure I have what you've had, your symptoms match mine. I too haven't been able to read blogs or even the Weight Watcher boards, just too much for my cloudy brain to comprehend.

Adam arrived at 11:30 this morning. I am so blessed, he is such a great kid. So easy to take care of, so polite and gentle. I wonder sometimes why his mom would even not want to be with him every day. But then again he does ask to come here and she knows he loves it here, he has all his favorite NOGGIN shows to watch.

He's only three and the bus driver forgot where my house was to drop him off and Adam was telling them, no Nana's house is that way, and he led them right to the front door, isn't he just too smart?

I just finally got him to sleep at 10PM so figured I'd pop on here and at least blog for the day. My husband is on his way home, he was doing security for the Trace Atkins concert, I don't think I've ever heard him sing but I heard he was on Celebrity Apprentice (which I don't watch either, lol). He just called said there were about 3000 women there in cowboy hats. It was fun to watch them all.

Contest stuff...

Yes the picture came from Amy's blog, I loved it and wish I could do intarsia patterns like that.

I will draw names tomorrow and post the winner tomorrow or Monday for this weeks contest. The winner can then choose which color of sock yarn they would like.

I have made 4 squares so far with the Grandma's favorite pattern. It's really not that bad. I always thought I hated the diagonal knitting, but really I haven't found this too bad at all. It reminds me of when I was making those snake scarves, same idea. I can't wait to put this afghan together though, it's gonna look awesome.

My sister wants to take Adam and Hannah to Friendly's tomorrow for lunch and ice cream. I hope I am feeling better cause I'd like to go. Of course I haven't been able to eat anything with my stomach and the sore throat, but maybe some ice cream would feel good, right? We usually end up at McDonalds because Adam loves the slide, well see.

By the way... did any of you try that crochet contest??? Is this what you ended up with???

Wouldn't this look good if it somehow had a rainbow attached to it too... what a great reminder about God's promise, huh?

Ok I guess I am off to bed, gotta sleep while I can.

High Five, Take the Mystery Pic Dive

Greetings one and all...

It's crazy but I am still not feeling good. I haven't felt like this in quite a long time. My throat is now starting to get scratchy and I am so tired. I fall asleep at the worst moments, like right before the ending of a movie or TV show, on the phone, when trying to read blogs...oops. And tomorrow Adam will be here after pre-school, yikes.

My poor husband (can these two words really ever be right in the same thought???) I haven't cooked dinner all week. I just can't bear the thought of touching, looking at or smelling raw uncooked meat. eeewwwweeeeeeeeeeee

I have been getting more squares ready to sew together. I am loving this box from Wendy. Right now I am working on a group of smaller squares, maybe 6" and they are all done with the grandma's favorite pattern, I guess that's what it's called, starts with like 3 stitches and you increase until halfway then decrease to finish it. At this size I need 35 squares and I have 22. There are a couple bigger squares with the same pattern and I would need 30 of those and I have 9 I think... so looks like I need to knit up a few before I can continue. That I expect to be my weekend project.

CONTEST STUFF-

OK today is the MYSTERY PICTURE question. I have gone to and visited all the blogs of the people that have commented on my blog this week. Below is part of a picture of something they made and posted on their blog. Hopefully you have been visiting the blogs of the commenters and seeing all the wonderful talent everyone has. If not, why not do that today and see if you can find where this mystery picture came from. Post your answer in the comment section and receive another entry in this weeks contest for a skein of sock yarn.

As usual there will be no contst assignments over the weekend, but I will continue to blog daily anyway.

Monday starts a new week, so I hope to see everyone back. I am already working on the prize for next week, and am sure you will all love it.

I have been reading everyones blogs, but just haven't been commenting, really I can't be responsible for what I might type in my sleep, seriously.

Oh if I only had a bowl of chicken soup.... I might actually eat something then.

Anyone happen to be driving through the Albany NY area today??? I promise not to breathe on you. LOL

May your day today be filled with good fiber, no lost stitches, frog free WIP's and time to enjoy it all to the fullest.

Day 4, Name that Caption

Howdy friends,

Still not feeling great, but I am at least functioning today. I managed to get to church so that was good. I finished the first of many VJG afghans today, what do you think?

I made mention of a few more contests in my side bar, make sure you check them out. Especially you crocheters out there, did you know this is National Crocheters Month??? One of the contests has a mystery pattern you need to crochet up (it's small only took about 30 minutes tops) and then send in your picture for the contest. I did it last night, I think I did it right? LOL, not 100% sure though. If any of you try it I'd love to see your finished product.

Onto Contest Stuff-

Yes the answer to the Riddle was PURL, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Today is cartoon caption humor... below is a picture, post into the comment section whatever caption pops into your head when you look at it. This will of course get you another entry into this weeks contest.

One more day left for this weeks prize so make sure you come back tomorrow too.

I guess that's about it for me, back to bed. Hoping tomorrow will be even better then today.

Day Three, Care for a Riddle???

First things first, I finally took pictures of the gifts from Cat and Wendy... Only Adam had the lady bug pin Cat sent and I can't find it... it's somewhere. Anyway here are the pictures...

This is a beautiful pink cross bookmark and I use it everyday, I LOVE it. It was from an Etsy store you should check it out she has some pretty stuff there.

This picture is of a beautiful hand crocheted scarf, a pair of knitting needles size 7, supporting breast cancer awareness, two skeins of pink yarn and two crocheted sponges. Everything is in PINK and therefore everything is PERFECT.

Onto Contest stuff...
Well I am something that could mean great worth
I am hidden deep until I'm discovered at birth
Of a great price I have thought to be sold
Maybe even worth more then silver or gold
But alas my spelling gives me a new role
Hold onto your tension for perfect control
Go ahead and give it a whirl
I'm not a knit I am a.....???

Solve the riddle, post your answer in the comment section and receive another entry in this weeks contest. You don't have to be right, you just need to guess... SHELLY you too, even though you know the answer (She helped me with a line I was stuck on)

Well that's done. I am feeling a little better today but not great by any means. I did however climb the stairs tonight so I could watch Biggest Loser, so that's a plus.

I haven't been able to go read blogs as I have been sleeping a lot. I hope you know I am there in spirit and hopefully tomorrow I can catch up with you all.

Day two, and a little third degree???

Well this will be a short and sweet blog, I have been sick all day. Can't eat, and just feeling like a truck ran over me. On a good note though I bet I lost 5 pounds today.

Here's Adam trying to guess the number of square that were in the box, hmmm 1, 2, 3 , 4 , 5, 17, 20!!!!

By the way as I emptied the box to sort and count the squares Adam decided he would keep the box as his new train. LOL, who needs to buy toys, when there is cardboard around???

The answer to the number of squares was 100, exactly. I actually counted them three times to make sure. Can't wait to get them all sewed together into blankets. I'll post pictures as I can.

Today's Contest, well Tuesday is question/poll day...

So here I go.

How many projects do you actually finish in a month?
1- 5 or more (I am super knitter, LOL!)
2- 2-4 (Come on I have a life too you know??)
3- 1 and I'm proud of that for sure (Sheepishly looks a the pile of UFO's)
4- Is this a trick question????

Post your answer in the comments section to get another entry in this weeks drawing.

No pictures yet but the prize will be a ball of sock yarn, enough to make a pair of socks. I'll get the pictures up as soon as I am feeling better, OK?

Wendy and Cat my apologies to you both, you both have sent me awesome gifts and I have not posted them here yet. I am so grateful and LOVE them just can;t seem to get my head together to get them photographed and blogged. You two are awesome.

Ok that said I really need to get back to bed. I'll check back tomorrow.

Day 1 of Week 2, A Winner is revealed

Well can my weekend get any more busy and complicated??? I have not yet rested since Adam has been here.

With the time change Adam slept until 9am, I need to be at church at 10am. So we are already behind. My son took my car because his had a flat tire. My husbands truck was full of his junk so he couldn't drive Adam home and me to church. So my sister, who thank God lives next door, said she'd drop us off. So she and her daughter Hannah came over and my husband was pretending to be a monster and scare them, and they would run from the kitchen to the living room screaming. 2 minutes before we were to walk out of the house Adam loses his footing while running and falls face first into his Diego table. Now we have a crying baby, bloody clothes and face and a husband yelling at me. Adam would have nothing to do with the band aid but somehow we stopped the bleeding. On the way to drive him home he was fine in the car, pointing out flags and stop signs etc. but as soon as we got to his house and "Janmum" came to get him, he started crying and said "I got hurt" it was so obviously a show for his other grandma, LOL.

After church my aunts decided to come down to play Mexican dominoes so off to my sisters I go, still no rest for the weary. LOL. I just got home about an hour ago and the animals were hounding me for food, the wood stove was almost out and blah blah.

Then I tried to upload some pictures and blogger was not cooperating. Grrr I finally got one to go through so I am stopping here. I'll work on the others tomorrow I guess.

Week 2 of the March Blogaversary begins Today

Below is a picture of the squares sent to me from Wendy for the VJG afghans, contest assignment today is to guess how many squares were in the box.

Post your answer in the comments section to get an entry in this weeks contest.

Adam is Still Here

Well I had good intentions of blogging a few pictures and stuff today, but Adam ended up staying over night again. His mom and grandma are not feeling good I guess.

Anyway no chance to get myself ready to blog so it will have to wait until tomorrow.

But since I have committed to blogging everyday I wanted to at elast pop on and let you know I am here, just not here.

I did hear something saddening today, about a book being promoted by Oprah... this news came from a trusted source but I still want to check it out in more detail. But I thought I'd give you a quick heads up just in case it is true.

Oprah Winfrey, beginning January 1, 2008, on her daily radio program will offer a year-long course on the New Age Christ, in a lesson a day and completely cover the 365 lessons from the Course in Miracles "Workbook."

Here are some quotes from the "Jesus" voice of A Course in Miracles :

- "There is no sin . . . "

- A "slain Christ has no meaning."

- "The journey to the cross should be the last ' useless journey."

- "Do not make the pathetic error of 'clinging to the old rugged cross.'"

- "The Name of Jesus Christ as such is but a symbol... It is a symbol that is safely used as a replacement for the many names of all the gods to which you pray."

- "The recognition of God is the recognition of yourself."

- "The Atonement is the final lesson he [man] need learn, for it teaches him that, never having sinned, he has no need of salvation."

- ""My salvation comes from me."

There was more info but this is just a portion of it. Please be careful with what you listen to or hear, lies can be so convincing.

That said I am off to bed, church tomorrow and the NASCAR race in the afternoon. I need my beauty sleep, LOL

HUGS to all

Handmade With love

Yes that's our motto and we are sticking to it. Melanie came through and helped us get the words on our profile picture, Melanie YOU ROCK, thank you very much.

Can you believe it's already the weekend??? Crazy how time flies by so fast.

Adam came today after school, we had a very active day, he is finally sleeping. No nap so hopefully he will not wake up too early tomorrow morning.

I received a box of squares from Wendy today, and I am so grateful. There are tons of squares in there. Adam helped me sort them by size, he made three piles, Big, Biggest and Smallest. LOL. It was so cute, he had to decide where each one went. Yeah, there were a lot of squares so you can imagine how long this process took, but it was fun. He would tell me all the colors and on several he would go" OOH this is beautiful".

Wendy also paid it forward to me and sent me some pink surprises. Oh how I love pink. I'll post more about it tomorrow after Adam is gone and I can really let my fingers fly and type. I don't want to wake him up with my excited fingers, LOL

I got some paper jammed in my printer and I can't seem to find it or figure out how to get it out. Trying not to be frustrated, but I am. Grrrrr

CONTEST STUFF:

Well I hope you all enjoyed the contest this week, and we will pick it up again on Monday for another week and another prize.

Did you all like my newest Friday feature... Mystery Picture? I will have fun with this one visiting your blogs looking for treasures for the rest of the month. LOL

I will draw a winner sometime this weekend and post it hopefully before Monday. I want to thank everyone for playing and stopping by and I hope to see you the rest of the month and even when I am not having a contest.

I've had a song running through my head all day today, the words of this song always bring me comfort and peace, so I thought I'd share them today with you all.

Because He Lives

God sent His Son, they called Him Jesus
He came to love, heal and forgive
He lived and died, to buy my pardon
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow
Because He lives, all fear is gone
Because I know who holds the future
My life is worth the living just because He lives

Day 5 Mystery Picture Fun

It's official we made our second sale on Etsy. I have been knitting all day, well almost, to get these dishcloths ready to ship out. I have 2/3 of the last one left and I am ready. I expect to finish this before Adam gets here tomorrow.

I have been playing around in paint trying to draw and make a profile picture for Shelly and I on Etsy and this is what I finally ended up with.

I have Melanie trying to see is she can add the words "Handmade With Love" to it but it wasn't working, and I have to admit the more I look at it the more I actually like it all by itself. The hand is a little rough but it kind of looks like a hand, right?

CONTEST STUFF:

LOVED the comments on the yarn van yesterday, Caption day is one of my favorites.

Today's contest assignment is to take a look at the Mystery Picture below and then post in the comment section what you think the picture is of and who's blog I found it on. I will give you a hint... this person has commented on my blog this week and this is a finished object they have posted on their blog this week as well.

This is a good way to familiarize yourself with some of the commenter's blogs that you may never have visited before. There are a lot of great knitters out there and crocheters too and I wouldn't want you to miss out on anything.

So go check out those blogs and post your answers in the comment section and receive another entry into the contest. Today is the last day to receive an entry until Monday when we start again. I will draw names over the weekend and post the winner by Monday. So start window shopping at Michelle's Etsy store, you might just be the one who gets to pick their favorite set.

Next weeks prize won't be revealed until Monday. So make sure you come back to play all next week too. Don't forget you get extra entries if you refer people here and they mention your name and if you have a link to this contest on your blog as well.

I guess that's all for me today, I need to get back to that third cloth. I really would like to get it mailed tomorrow. Being ready at all times is pretty important to me, when it comes to providing a service, working at a job, or spreading the gospel to those that are ready to hear.

See you all on your blogs...
