Dag nab it, I lost my needles again...

My niece Hannah was over today, she is 5, I have been trying to teach her how to knit and crochet... she loves to comb my hair too. As you can see in the picture she is very creative. And hey, what a great way to keep track of all your needles, hmm I need a pair of size 6 long needles, try the left side of the ponytail, need a G crochet hook, look above the right ear, LOL.
I didn't get to work on the dishcloth too much, I had over 40 emails to respond to for the fish pattern... I really need to figure out how to put a link on here with the pattern... I do have number 14 of 30 started of the Easter project. Tomorrow (well actually today) will be all about knitting until I have to go to church.

My first creation

The Christian Fish Symbol Dishcloth
© Kathleen M Brundige AKA Gimpykatk

Well I just had to go and create a new pattern in the midst of all those Easter dishcloths I still need to make. Someone was asking about a Christian Fish symbol and I searched the internet and didn't see one, so I got out the graph paper and started creating. To the left is my primitative drawing. Looks great on paper. I started knitting and this was the finished product. I will call it take 1 of 3. LOL

I tried to make a new border design and not an experienced knitter yet I made a few errors and the ends sunk in and looked kind of like a gutter, really rolled up. Made the cloth look tall and skinny (nothing like this overweight creator, lol) So back to the drawing board and take numero dos...

As you can see in this picture I widened the base line and fixed the rolling gutter problem but the cloth is HUGE (much like it's creator this time, lol) It looks ok but I thought the fish looked a little wider then I thought it should. So more revisions and finally a pattern I was happier with.

Take 3... This is the one I will guess most would want the patter for although I do still have the pattern for discloth number 2 as well. I am sad that the pictures came out so light in color, it is a light blue but looks almost grey to me in the pictures.

I made these dishcloths with a size 3 bamboo needle as I thought maybe the picture would come out better. I usually use a size 8. Now because I was also working on the 3 crosses my 8's were next to me as I was knitting, and silly me somehow between casting on and working the pattern I ended up on the size 8 needles about halfway thru and had to work the 3's back in. How could I not notice that??? Anyway that was on the first cloth so no harm done, but I felt like a fool.

I must admit it was an adventure creating this pattern, made even more fun by the fact that I slit open my pointer finger on my left hand witht he label from the cone of cotton earlier and the bonus of the burn I got on the palm of my left hand from a very hot George Foremen grill.

I did take a picture of my bandaged finger for fun...

Finished the Mid Month KAL dishcloth

Well I finished the mid month pttern from the KAL (knit a long) yahoo group. This month it was a basket weave. I have never done the pattern before so it was new for me. Pretty easy just knit and purl combinations a couple time I caught myself combining two pattern lines together, they read similar. But I was able to fix the mistakes. The picture doesn't show the pattern as well but I really love the color of the cotton yarn. I was getting to the end and I was afraid I wouldn't have enough to finish it. I prayed and asked God to increase my yarn and He did. God is good all the time.
As for my progress on the three crosses dishcloths I am on #12 ans almost finished with my first pound of white cotton thread. I am hoping I have enough to finish the 12th dishcloth, hmm maybe I see another prayer or two on the way...
My friend looked up the scripture I am attaching to each dishcloth (thank you Shelly) it is John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
I also was thinking of Psalm 51:2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
I guess that's all for now...
Hope You are seeing Gods blessings in your life today too,

Better late then never

Well here was attempt number 2 of the leprechen and pot of gold... he sure has a huge head, don't ya think? Definately better seen in a solid color.

So as i finished this dishcloth I was binding off and I have always done the binding with my fingers lifting the stitch over the needle. I hate that. I have short fat stumpy fingers and no real long nails either. So this time I said to myself there must be a way to do this with the needles and then just as if someone else was making my habds move I did it with the needles. I think I woke up my husband as I let out a cheer.

Still working on the 3 cross dishcloths... I have finished 11 so far I need 30 by Easter as I am giving them as gifts to all the women I know. I am going to attach a card to them with a scripture on them, I have in mind the one I want to use I just haven't looked it up yet. I'll post it when I have done my homework.

Hoping to get my grandson Adam Thursday or Friday I sure miss him. Until then it's all about those dishcloths.

Sunday, my favorite day

Hello again... not sure who is actually reading this but it still feels good to type out my thoughts.

Today Is Church and NASCAR Sunday... I love going to church and spending time in God's presence. I can't imagaine starting a week without it.

Then afterwards the bonus is NASCAR... I si enjoy that sport, not so much for the cars driving around but for all the stories behind the drivers and the reputation and compassion they show to each other.

Last night I tried making a new dishcloth for St Patricks day but it's very hard to see, I used a variegated yarn and maybe should have tried a plain color instead. It's supposed to be a leprechan and a pot of gold. {{{sigh}}}

We also got another snow storm yesterday, almost 2 feet of snow again. Here are some pictures.

The belt is finished

Well my mom found some yarn at the dollar store, it's called Ticker Tape. It's like nylons, and wow what a pleasure to knit with. I love it. Not enough to make anything real big so I knitted a belt for a friend of mine. It's about 60" long and I just used a straight knit stitch. I did learn how to taper the ends though and that's awesome. My friend is going to sew some beads onto the ends after I send it to her. Hopefully I will have a picture of it completed and her modeling it.

I am so loving trying these different specialty yarns.
